Job summary

Wheeling Hospital is seeking a maintenance professional to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hospital equipment and systems. The role requires flexibility to handle on-call duties and adherence to safety and infection-control guidelines.

Ideal candidates will hold a High school diploma or equivalent and possess or pursue Electrical Journeyman and Master Electrician licensure, with HVAC Refrigerant licensure considered a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment and systems throughout the Hospital.
• Maintains tools and inventory for ongoing maintenance work.
• Follows hospital, state and federal guidelines for safety, infection control and compliance.
• Ensures facilities and equipment support safe, comfortable, and efficient patient care.
• Operates, cleans and maintains department equipment and uses PPE as required.
• Responds to on-call duties as scheduled.

Job description

Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment and systems throughout the facility.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Electrical Journeyman licensure
• Master's Electrician licensure
• HVAC Refrigerant licensure

Experience

• One (1) year experience in all phases of general maintenance.
• One (1) year experience in facilities maintenance.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs general maintenance work throughout the Hospital.
• Assures all tools are clean and kept properly stored for future use and keep good inventory on all materials.
• Follows hospital, state and federal guidelines for ensuring safe environment for workers, patients and public. Maintains compliance with hospital and departmental policies and Government Codes and procedures for safety, security, and infection control.
• Ensures the facilities and equipment for department services is maintained to promote comfort, efficiency and safety for patients and staff.
• Operates and cleans and maintains equipment per department & safety procedures.
• Uses required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) safety equipment when in the department.
• Responds promptly to on-call duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Capable of climbing the height of all Maintenance Department ladders not to exceed 40 ft. in height. Also making essential repairs and clean vents, lights and windows for an extended shift.
• Able to bend, stoop, reach and capable of normal rotation, and standing for an extended shift. Able to lift fifty pounds from floor to a height of five feet and capable of moving all types of furniture, Equipment and machinery up to 400 ft. or more
• Must meet Department of Labor’s Heavy-Duty Standard. (Heavy Work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Able to tolerate working with all types of cleaning solutions and Maintenance Department chemicals.
• Capable of working in heavy dust areas for extended shifts.
• Capable of working in and around 100-degree temperatures and very excessive noise areas.

Skills And Abilities

• Capable of operating all types of outside grounds equipment.
• Capable of operating, setting up all types of in-house maintenance tools and machinery.

Capable of working all three shifts alone.

• Capable of operating and driving all Hospital vehicles making runs from city to city.
• Knowledge in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.
• Capable of working all three shifts and weekends when scheduled.
