Glacier Hills Senior Living Community in Monroe, MI seeks an Environmental Services Technician to plan, organize, and oversee cleanliness, maintenance and repairs across the campus, ensuring a safe, warm environment for residents and staff.

You will develop and enforce departmental policies, supervise outside contractors, manage safety programs, and coordinate preventive maintenance, while staying compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.

Job description

  • The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and overseeing the cleanliness, maintenance and repair work at the community including property and equipment to ensure a comfortable, safe and clean environment for residents and staff members. Ensures that services are performed in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our community.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Consistently demonstrate (leads by example) Sanctuary Values to all internal and external customers (residents, visitors, volunteers, and associates.) Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, propagating a calm environment throughout the community. Actively participates / intervenes with direct care as needed and as a role model in ongoing Sanctuary Training of personnel.
  • Establish and maintain departmental procedures that support the necessary operational functions for the Environmental Services Department. Develop and maintain written departmental policies and procedures, and coordinate department services and activities.
  • Subject to call back in emergency situations and remain on site through resolution or relieved by Housing Manager.
  • Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program ensuring that equipment is kept in good working condition. Maintains records of maintenance schedules and repairs and performs work as needed. Notify Housing Manager for capital needs.
  • Assure the continued ability to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. Ensure outside services are properly completed/supervised in accordance with contracts/work orders. Make scheduled/daily rounds to ensure equipment is in proper working condition and community appearance meets standards. Maintain a productive working relationship with other community personnel.
  • Oversees work orders and needed maintenance issues on a timely basis.
  • Oversee all aspects of maintaining the community, performing minor repairs and coordinating major repairs and renovations, seeking quotes, interviewing third party contractors. Evaluates maintenance services provided by third party vendors.
  • May be asked to transport residents in a company vehicle to and from appointments, shopping, etc.
  • Manage and oversee the community's safety protection and prevention, fire protection and prevention, and material safety data sheets (MSDS). Provide and oversee hazardous material education and accountability. Ensure the containers of hazardous chemicals in the department are properly labeled and stored. Ensure disinfecting and decontamination supplies are EPA approved.
  • Ensure a stock level of supplies required by Environmental Services, reporting equipment or community damage to the Housing Manager and recommending equipment and supply needs. Make periodic rounds to check equipment, supply rooms, and work areas, ensuring necessary equipment is available and in working order.
  • Manage and oversee the outside grounds of the community. Assure grounds are maintained, such as removal of snow, leaves etc., as well as the third party contractors that may be employed to take care of the grounds.
  • Respect resident rights, including maintaining the confidentiality of all resident care information,
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, TSLC Corporate Integrity Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
