Job summary

Church & Dwight Co., Inc. is hiring a Mechanic – D shift (Weekend Days) in York, PA. The role maintains facilities and equipment, performs repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting across GMP and nonregulated areas.

You will work under the Maintenance Supervisor, balancing maintenance with production to improve OEE. Requires 3–5 years of maintenance experience; preferred is a technical degree or certificate and familiarity with SAP/CMMS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required for entry-level maintenance work.
• 3–5 years of proven maintenance experience in a lean manufacturing setting.
• Preferred: bachelor’s degree or mechanical vocational certification.
• Experience in the CPG industry is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on facility equipment.
• Troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems on high-speed lines.
• Repair packaging and processing equipment; set up machines and adjust as needed.
• Document work orders in CMMS and participate in TPM/kaizen events.
• Promote safety culture and follow GMP/quality practices.

Performing equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting. This position is utilized throughout the facility in both GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) regulated and nonregulated departments.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential job functions):Responsible always for promoting a safety culture and awareness within their area.Always support and adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures.Perform troubleshooting, facility, equipment and production line repairs, shop fabrication, pipe fitting (PVC and stainless) and machine set-up in support of high-speed production lines.Perform all maintenance activities such as predictive and preventative maintenance, work orders and improvement projects via the CMMS system.Coordinate and perform all maintenance activities (PM, work orders, improvement projects, etc.) to effectively balance maintenance and production needs.Perform technical work while running production lines in pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical areas.Maintain packaging and processing equipment including machine adjustments, repairs, lubrication, etc. in support of Technical Line Operators.Root cause analysis to troubleshoot and eliminate primary causes of downtime, etc. to improve OEE (overall equipment effectiveness).Facilities maintenance including maintenance and repair of all building and ground support systems. i.e. Industrial air compressors, water towers, boilers…Active participation in training and certification program as needed in technical aspects of machinery to include set-ups, changeovers, troubleshooting, etc.Ensures all quality and food safety practices are always followed in support of the VMS (vitamin and mineral supplement) business.Active participation in site Lean and TPM activities including daily boardwalks, and kaizen improvement eventsAll other related duties as required and assigned.MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma or GED required.3-5 years’ experience of proven maintenance experience in a fast-paced lean manufacturing environment.PREFERED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s Degree or certificate from a mechanical vocational school.7+ years’ experience working with trouble shooting and equipment repairs.Experience with CPG (consumer packaged goods) industry.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.Excellent communications skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media – verbal, written, etc. Must have ability to communicate clearly in English – verbal and written.Excellent organizational/time management skills.Ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced work environment, calm under pressure and flexibility to adapt to changing schedules as appropriate.Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of three phases electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and PLC controls, shop math skills and strong troubleshooting ability required.Strong computer skills with previous experience with SAP or CMMS.REQUIRED TRAINING:Candidate must be capable of completing, passing, and maintain all company issued trainings throughout the course of their employment.WORKING CONDITIONS:The work area may experience varying temperatures, from cooler storage areas to warmer production zones. Proper ventilation is provided, but candidates should be prepared for occasional exposure to strong odors or fumes from the materials being processed.The candidate will be required to wear all appropriate PPE for the work they are performing within the facility.
