Responsibilities

• Perform landscape and park maintenance on county properties.
• Sweep, mop, clean bathrooms and restrooms, dust, empty waste, vacuum floors.
• Maintain lawns and grounds of various County sites.
• Pressure wash exterior facilities and clean boardwalks; set up for gatherings.
• Maintain ball fields during tournaments on weekends/holidays.
• Operate equipment such as lawnmower, edger, weed eater, blower, saws and drills.
• Work during local state of emergency as required.

Job description

This is manual work in participating in landscape and park maintenance on various County properties. The scope of work is primarily weekends maintaining the ball fields, parks, and playgrounds and any other county facility where required. Duties require the exercise of independent judgement in planning work methods and completing work assignments.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Tasks which are performed indoor will cause exposure to various chemicals and noxious fumes. Tasks performed outdoor will cause exposure to insects, heights, confined areas, wildlife and extreme weather conditions. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical that screens for acceptable eyesight and hearing (with or without correction), the ability to sit for extended periods, and manual dexterity needed to operate office machinery.

• Follow assignments in landscape and park maintenance, issues cleaning supplies, keeping records and making reports to administrative superior, these functions require speaking, hearing, reading and editing
• Participates in such duties as sweeping, mopping, cleaning of bathrooms and toilets, dusting, emptying waste baskets and vacuuming floors
• Maintains the lawns and grounds of various County sites
• Periodically pressure washes the outside County facilities, cleans boardwalks and walk bridges; sets up Pole Barn for reserved gatherings
• Maintains ball fields during tournaments on weekends and holidays
• Must be able to operate equipment such as lawnmower, edger, weed eater, blower, hand saw, drill, buffing machine, carpentry tools, hand tools and other equipment as required
• Required to work during a local declared state of emergency

Must be at least 18 years of age and willing to learn. Experience in grounds keeping or similar maintenance work or any equivalent combination of experience is preferred but not required.

Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license required.
