Job summary

Southwire Company, LLC is seeking a Level I Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing operations by performing corrective and preventive maintenance aimed at improving equipment reliability.

Based on the posted shift (D - Shift, 6:50 PM - 7:00 AM) and pay rate ($30.50– $33.80 per hour), you will troubleshoot, service and adjust machinery, maintain lubrication, and document maintenance history to drive performance and safety in our facility.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-year technical degree desired.
  • Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Familiarity with shop equipment like drill presses, band saws, and portable tools.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunction using logical and systematic methods.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks (cleaning, inspection, minor service).
  • Replace identified parts or components that have failed.
  • Adjust equipment to meet specifications.
  • Maintain lubrication schedules and records.
  • Suggest process or procedure changes based on observed behavior.

Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW

As a Level I Maintenance Technician, you will support our manufacturing operations by providing corrective and preventive maintenance activity with a focus on improving equipment reliability and maintainability.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Strong Mechanical or Electrical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and manufacturing equipment.
  • Must be familiar with normal shop equipment such as drill press, band saw and portable power tools.
  • Must be capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to advance skill proficiencies through assigned training.
  • 2-year Technical Degree desired.
  • A minimum of 1 year of industrial manufacturing or comparable skills demonstration required.
PRIMARY JOB TASKS
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunction using logical and systematic methodologies.
  • Complete routine preventive tasks such as cleaning, inspection and minor service or overhaul.
  • Replace identified parts or components that have failed.
  • Adjust equipment to bring it into operational specifications.
  • Maintain machinery lubrication requirements.
  • Recommend process or procedure changes based on observed equipment behavior.
  • Maintain current and accurate maintenance data to determine establish historical records and future maintenance requirements.
QUALITY
  • Maintain an attitude of learning to stay current with maintenance procedures and equipment.
  • Complete an annual Maintenance Skills Assessment and perform assigned training activities based on assessment results.
SAFETY
  • Report all accidents, incidents, injuries and unsafe acts or conditions, immediately to the supervisor.
  • Must follow prescribed safety procedures to prevent injury and maintain safe equipment and conditions in entire plant.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of working safely in an industrial maintenance environment.
  • Follow all company environmental rules/procedures and handle all materials in a manner designed to minimize environmental impact.
