Job summary

KMG Hotels seeks a Maintenance Person for the Aloft and Element in North Kansas City. You will perform routine maintenance and repairs to keep guest rooms and public areas in optimal condition, reporting to the Operations Manager.

  • Maintain and repair hotel equipment to ensure guest rooms and public spaces meet hospitality standards.
  • Oversee and participate in the Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Assist in inspections of fire safety systems and equipment as needed.
  • Respond to maintenance requests promptly to minimize guest disruption.
  • Coordinate repairs with other departments to ensure efficient operations.
  • Adhere to Marriott Hospitality standards and safety regulations.

Job description

The Aloft and Element in North Kansas City offers guests a welcome room with many complimentary amenities as is backed by the Marriott name. Working with us, you'll ensure our hotels and amenities are fully functional and presentable. This is an evening and weekend position, start times and amount of hours negotiable.

The Maintenance Person will be directed and supervised by the Operations Manager. The primary responsibilities for this position will be focused on routine maintenance tasks and completing assignments. Other duties may be assigned as required by the business and/or training for career advancement. The Maintenance person is responsible for ensuring proper operations, maintenance, service, and repair of all equipment while supporting the Marriott hospitality goals of guest satisfaction, cost control, and profitability. He/she is also responsible for overseeing and participating in the Preventative Maintenance program, ensuring that all rooms and public spaces meet hospitality standards.

Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.

  • Long hours sometimes required.
  • Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up-to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Essential
DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Hospitality standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working (per brand standards).
  • Comply at all times with Marriott Hospitality standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Focus the Engineering Department on their role in contributing to the guest service scores.
  • Assist in establishing ongoing training for all departments especially Housekeeping, Front Desk and Kitchen to maintain basic upkeep of their departments and equipment.
  • Assist General Manager to coordinate all inspections of the fire safety systems, including extinguishers, smoke alarms, etc., to maintain proper safety standards.
  • Assist in ensuring that the Preventative Maintenance program is implemented and administered according to Marriott Hospitality standards.
  • Handle guestroom maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Assisting maintaining files of and be familiar with all operational manuals and warranty agreements for equipment.
  • Immediately follow up on any alarms to determine the exact location and cause; determine emergency status and report to Guest Services and/or the General Manager with findings.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, employees, and other departments.
  • Assist in ensuring that pool is in compliance with area health codes.
  • Use proper two-way radio etiquette at all times when communicating with other employees; Ensure the proper use of radio etiquette within the department.
  • Conduct daily property tour of the hotel and exterior perimeter for debris and trash removal; Check the lighting and irrigation periodically.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by Supervisors and Managers.
