POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Maintenance Tech 2 to join our dynamic team at Petmate. The Maintenance Technician 2 is responsible for performing equipment repairs and preventative inspections of equipment as per procedures in a safe and professional manner as directed. The level 2 technician intervenes on replacement of parts during standard operations that do not require global dismantling of equipment concerned. They are responsible for equipment repairs with some level of complexity, often outlined in equipment manuals and/or standard work instructions. Completes necessary paperwork accurately and on time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe and diagnose machine malfunctions and operating problems. Inspect the machines and observe operation to detect the cause of malfunction. Make repairs and adjustments to keep machinery in production.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment, using electrical and electronic test equipment. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
  • Works as part of a project team related to installation of new machine tools or the relocation of existing machines.
  • They can perform projects of minimal complexity on their own.
  • Oversee parameter control on equipment in operation with measuring tools integrated to the equipment.
  • Monitor equipment settings (for example pully or motor alignment), maintain breaking and safety device controls (sensors and circuit breakers) and conduct standard exchange replacement of fuses, belts, air filters, etc.
  • Weekly or monthly lubrication and more complex filter replacements.
  • Records repairs made and costs in CMMS.
  • Presents summary of work-related events at staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Overtime and weekends (Saturday/Sunday) may be required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Requirements:

  • Mechanical aptitude to learn electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and associated equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA worksite and personal safety requirements.
  • Action and goal-oriented mindset.
  • Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in English.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude with experience in maintenance/repair of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and associated equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic functions on a computer.

Education and Experience:

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Graduation from an industrial trade school is highly preferred
  • At least two years of previous experience in a manufacturing environment or relevant training from trade school or on the job training.
