Job summary

UFP Industries is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I in the United States. The role focuses on basic preventative maintenance of machinery, equipment, and tools, and supports the Maintenance Department with machine and building repairs as needed.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of maintenance experience, solid knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems, welding, and safety practices. This is a hands-on, entry-level position with opportunities for growth within the company.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• At least 1 year of machine repair or maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and control technology, and welding.
• Familiarity with safety rules, regulations and hazardous material handling.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building.
• Assist in repair of woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts per manuals and specs.
• Order supplies and parts as required.
• Maintain records of repair and maintenance activities.
• Adhere to safety rules and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Participate in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
• If in Treating Department, handle hazardous waste procedures.
• Prepare various reports as required.
• Perform other duties as required.

The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for performing basic preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools, and assists other members of the Maintenance Department in various machine/building repairs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs regular, preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building
• Assists in the repair of woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications
• Orders supplies and parts as required
• Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled
• Maintains records of repair and maintenance activities
• Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures
• Maintains a clean and organized work area
• Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings
• If assigned to Treating Department, performs duties consistent with hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
• Prepares various reports as required
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Minimum 1 year of experience in machine repair in maintenance
• Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding
• Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations
• Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
• Must be at least 18 years of age
