Job summary

Berkshire Health & Rehabilitation Center in Vinton, VA is seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician to help keep the facility safe, well-maintained, and compliant with safety regulations. You will perform plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing, and electrical tasks while ensuring preventive maintenance and timely work order completion.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• One year of commercial maintenance experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Basic computer skills (e-mail, work order tracking).

Responsibilities

• Complete general facility maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing, minor repairs, and electrical work.
• Ensure preventative maintenance is routinely performed on all equipment / systems.
• Ensure work orders are properly prioritized and completed in a timely manner.
• Assist with regular inspections of the facility and equipment to identify issues or potential problems.
• Collaborate with other departments to minimize downtime.
• Help ensure compliance with Health and Life Safety Code requirements and regulations.
• Respond to facility fire and disaster situations immediately as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities including work orders, repairs, and inspections.
• Other duties necessary to ensure safe operation of the healthcare center.

Berkshire Health & Rehabilitation Center in Vinton, VA is seeking a qualified candidate to join our team as a Maintenance Technician.

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll help us achieve our mission of providing Care Beyond Compare by helping ensure our healthcare center is safe, well-maintained, and ready to serve our patients and residents. Your primary role will be to perform the duties of the maintenance department to ensure the facility is kept in good repair and all systems are in compliance with applicable safety and fire regulations as well as federal, state, and local building codes.

What You'll Do

What You Need

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• One (1) year experience in commercial maintenance or related trade.
• Basic computer skills (e-mail, electronic ordering, work order tracking, etc.)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet emergency requirements and ability to report to the center within twenty (20) minutes of being called for an emergency.
