Job summary

CommonSail Investment Group in Kalamazoo is seeking a Part-Time Maintenance Technician for night shift (12am–8am). You will perform general maintenance and repair duties across apartments, outdoors in various weather, and collaborate with staff from different departments to ensure reliable service.

The role requires reading safety rules and maintenance manuals, writing routine reports, and applying practical problem-solving to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and painting tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or technical school credits.
• One or more years of related maintenance experience or training.
• Experience in apartment maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, electrical.
• Ability to read safety rules and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to write routine reports and follow written or oral instructions.

Maintenance Technician StoryPoint Kalamazoo Position Summary Part Time 12am 8am As a Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repair duties This position requires the ability to work different shifts including weekends holidays and extended hours outdoors in different weather conditions Teamwork with the ability to work within different departments and with other staff is necessary to be successful You will take on a rewarding position with an innovative company where hard work pays off and advancement is always a possibility

Required Experience

• High School Diploma GED or some college credits from a technical school
• or one or more years of related experience andor training
• or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Skills

• Proficient in all aspects of apartment maintenance including HVAC plumbing electrical structural and appliance repair
• experience with drywall repairs and painting are essential
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• ability to write routine reports and correspondences
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form
• ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Primary Responsibilities

• Operates various types of tools and equipment safely and efficiently
• As a Maintenance Technician you must establish and maintains effective working relationships with other team members
• Identifies and reports broken equipment or uncertain conditions to the department supervisor
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and safe condition that meets safety regulations
• Performs preventative maintenance on machinery and the building or grounds as required
• Maintains a positive Customer Service attitude in interactions with staff and property residents

General Working Conditions

• This position entails standing for long periods of time
• While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to communicate effectively with others sit stand walk and use hands to handle keyboard telephone paper files and other equipment and objects
• The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms
• This position requires the ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens
• The employee will occasionally lift andor move up to 25 pounds
• The work environment requires appropriate interaction with others
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate
• Occasional travel to different locations may be required
