Job summary

Community Counseling Solutions is hiring for Maintenance Tech I or II at the REACH Facility in Hermiston, OR. The role covers building upkeep, landscape tasks, and general repairs across CCS sites in multiple counties. Expect a structured schedule, non‑exempt status and a focus on safety and documentation.

Tech II adds advanced duties such as root cause analysis, preventive maintenance and contractor coordination. CPR certification and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; pass background check and pre‑hire drug screen.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles.
  • Five years’ experience for Maintenance II; Maintenance I requires basic maintenance skills.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of trades and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exterior and interior upkeep of CCS facilities.
  • Mow, edge, landscape and maintain beds; weed control and irrigation.
  • Install, repair or replace carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical components as needed.
  • Read logs, report issues, and maintain accurate documentation per policies.
  • Assist with storms, emergencies and safety drills; participate in trainings.
  • Maintain and repair CCS vehicle fleet; ensure compliance and safety.

JOB TITLE: Maintenance Tech I or II

LOCATION: REACH Facility - Hermiston, OR (primarily serving Umatilla county locations but may work in various CCS locations)

FLSA: 1 FTE Non-exempt (expectation to work 40 hours per week)

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm (with 1 hour lunch break and 2 fifteen‑minute breaks). Schedule may vary according to Facilities Manager; possible earlier start times in summer. Overtime allowed if authorized or directed by Facilities Manager.

Pay Grade: Depending on Experience

Maintenance Tech I B05 ($19.42 - $27.74 per hour)

Maintenance Tech II B07 ($23.13 - $33.56 per hour)

HIRING BONUS: $5,500 (available through October 2026, 2 year commitment, staggered taxed payout)

This position provides maintenance services and performs work required for the care and upkeep of Community Counseling Solutions properties located in Morrow, Grant, Gilliam, Wheeler & Umatilla Counties and other areas as assigned.

A Maintenance II would perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of a building in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; HVAC maintenance; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position provides and maintains exterior and interior upkeep of facilities owned and operated by Community Counseling Solutions.

This position will or may:

  • Mow and edge lawn
  • Maintain and develop landscape beds
  • Pull or spray weeds
  • Water and fertilize lawns and landscape beds
  • Build fence
  • Assist in maintaining the equine assisted therapy facilities
  • Has knowledge and maintains underground sprinkler system
  • Read logs and other client support documents as needed upon reporting to work and to make all appropriate entries during and before the conclusion of the shift
  • Stay awake and alert throughout the shift
  • Conduct evacuation/fire drills as assigned
  • Receives mandatory training prior to beginning; passes and maintains certification in CPR
  • Maintains clean, sanitary, and safe conditions, for example, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, window washing, etc., both routinely and as needed; reports all safety hazards
  • Provides timely and accurate documentation as required per OAR’s and Community Counseling Solutions policies and procedures
  • Reports any suspected violations or clients’ rights or abuse of a client by another client or a staff member according to policies and OAR’s regarding mandatory reporting – such reporting is required for, but is not limited to, suspected incidents of physical assault, neglect of care, sexual exploitation, financial exploitation, which may also include borrowing or removing property from the home
  • Foster a positive, active and collaborative relationship with residents, other properties and associated agencies
  • Maintains and repairs equipment
  • Attends staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled
  • Follows the policies and procedures of Community Counseling Solutions
  • Manages and maintains the fleet of vehicles with CCS
  • Other duties as assigned
Additional expectation of responsibilities for a Tech II
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of CCS properties
  • Use preventive and predictive maintenance processes, and rapidly troubleshoot equipment, evaluate for necessary repairs, or breakdowns and quickly restore equipment and buildings to support the successful operation of the organization
  • Work with the Facilities Manager & other maintenance technicians to solve problems, validate quality of work for outside specialty contractors, work with building leaders to make repairs or updates as necessary
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to perform Root Cause Analysis for equipment or building failures
  • Perform general carpentry duties such as wallboard repair, countertop/cabinet replacement, finish carpentry, window/glass repair, door/lock repair, and ceramic tile repair
  • Inspect the property grounds, buildings, and common area amenities to maintain safety and cleanliness standards and to identify issues requiring maintenance, repair or replacement
  • Assist with property emergencies, such as snow removal and/or other inclement weather emergencies, fires, and floods
  • Promptly communicate with maintenance leadership concerning all maintenance issues at the property
  • May assist in training other maintenance technicians to enhance their technical skills and job knowledge
QUALIFICATIONS

The ability to interact and relate to customers, staff, managers and others with respect and dignity. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; comprehend laws, administrative rules and regulations and agency policies, and develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, and other professionals. Proven experience as a maintenance technician. Basic understanding of general maintenance processes and methods. Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices.

Education and Experience
Maintenance I Position
  • This position must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to pass a criminal history background check, pre‑hire drug screening and have a current drivers license to operate company vehicles.
Maintenance II Position
  • This position must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to pass a criminal history background check, pre‑hire drug screening and have a current driver's license to operate company vehicles.
  • Possess general maintenance and carpentry skills.
  • Five years’ experience in building construction, maintenance, repair, remodels, or directly related industry.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS

Must pass all criminal history check requirements as required by ORS 181.536‑181.537 and in accordance with OAR 410‑007‑0200 through 410‑007‑0380. In addition to a pre‑employment background check, each employee, volunteer and contractor shall be checked on a monthly basis against the OIG and GSA exclusion lists, as well as other federal and state agency lists. If it is discovered that an employee, volunteer or contractor is excluded or sanctioned it will be the cause for immediate termination of employment, volunteering, or the termination of the contract.

PERSONAL AUTO INSURANCE

Must hold a valid driver’s license as well as personal auto insurance for privately owned vehicles utilized for CCS business such as client service purposes, travel between business offices and the community, to attend required meetings and trainings.

Must show proof of $300,000 or more liability coverage for bodily injury and $100,000 or more liability coverage for property damage, and maintain said level of coverage for the duration of employment at CCS. The employee’s insurance is primary with CCS insurance being secondary. CCS reserves the right to deny any employee the use of a vehicle owned by CCS.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires an individual to be able to report to work as scheduled and to be somewhat flexible in work hours as projects and work will fluctuate. Requires the ability to climb, bend, stoop, push, lift 50 lbs., pull, stand, and walk.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will be performed at various properties owned by Community Counseling Solutions. Some work will be performed outside the building; one occasion work will be required in the residential treatment setting, day treatment or office locations.
