Position Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility machinery and building infrastructure. The primary function of this position is to operate the waste water equipment to ensure that the effluent is maintained to acceptable levels. There will also be basic building maintenance and repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Repair mechanical issues of facility machinery as requested by the maintenance manager/supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Monitor and operate the waste water equipment to ensure that the plant effluent is maintained at acceptable levels that meet the GVRD/regulatory requirements.
  • Improve the functioning of the machinery by making mechanical adjustments and performing preventative maintenance.
  • Perform basic building maintenance and repairs including but not limited to drywall repairs, painting, and any other such type of activities that may arise from time to time.
  • Complete daily mechanical maintenance and repair record forms and deliver them to the maintenance supervisor/coordinator.
  • Clean and maintain work area after mechanical work has been performed on a daily basis.
  • Perform quality welding and electrical work as required.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Education And Experience Required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of technical/mechanical experience in Food Production.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Sanitary Environments a definite asset.
  • Mechanical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic systems and Control System knowledge an asset.
  • Experience with High-Speed Packaging Machinery and industrial electrical PLC an asset.
  • Forklift, Stand-up / Sit-down, High Reach certificate.
  • Able to work as part of a diverse team or independently to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Positive, proactive and self-motivated with leadership qualities.
  • Ability to travel to United States based sites, if needed.
  • An organized problem solver, able to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication with an excellent command of the English language.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) an asset.
