Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America is seeking skilled maintenance technicians to diagnose, repair, and maintain plant equipment across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. You will work to reduce downtime and waste while maintaining a strong safety culture.

Position requires hands-on training, willingness to travel for external training, and the ability to work various shifts. PCA offers a comprehensive benefits package and competitive hourly pay based on experience.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of Industrial Maintenance experience troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
• Knowledge and experience with repairing and maintaining mechanical, electrical (AC/DC), hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC systems and drawings.
• Commitment to a safe and clean work environment.
• Ability to work any shift, overtime, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, rebuild, replace mechanical, electrical, PLC, hydraulic and pneumatic systems on plant equipment.
• Increase productivity, decrease downtime and waste.
• Respond to machine downtime events with urgency.
• Complete in-house training and possibly attend external training with occasional overnight travel.
• Follow lock-out tag-out procedures and safety policies.

Up to 100 paid training hours annually for technicians to advance through the progressive skill levels and achieve higher pay.

Technicians supply their own basic hand tools. PCA provides a tool stipend (or replacement) to help technicians maintain basic hand tools. PCA provides all special and heavy tools.

Stipend for safety shoes, safety glasses and tools.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of maintenance tasks to diagnose, repair, rebuild, replace mechanical, electrical, PLC, hydraulic and pneumatic systems on all plant equipment and facilities.

Use maintenance knowledge to increase productivity, decrease downtime and waste.

Work with a sense of urgency to respond to machine downtime events.

Will be required to complete in-house training programs to develop equipment specific maintenance skills. The position may also require attendance at external training that may require occasional overnight travel.

Must be able to follow all safety and company policies that include lock-out tag-out procedures.

Basic Qualifications

At least 3 years of Industrial Maintenance experience successfully troubleshooting and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment.

Must have knowledge and experience with repairing and maintaining mechanical, electrical (AC and DC), hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC systems and industrial equipment and drawings.

Be passionate about maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Ability to work any shift, overtime, and weekends as needed.

Must have own basic tools

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical degree and/or comparable experience in successfully troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery and equipment; particularly within the corrugated or packaging industry.

Compensation And Benefits

• Starting salary for position: $23.46 - $25.94 per hour.
• Bonus: Annual – Based upon achievement of plant performance metrics.
• Paid Vacation: 2 weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
• Paid Holidays.
• Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision – and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
• Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
