Job summary

Glanbia Nutritionals, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Team Lead in Sioux Falls, SD to direct maintenance and repairs of the plant's electrical and mechanical systems.

This role collaborates with production to prevent downtime, develops preventive maintenance schedules, and oversees contractor work to ensure safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a 2-year degree or equivalent experience and 3–5 years in a plant environment, with strong PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting skills,

Qualifications

  • 2-year degree or equivalent experience in electrical/controls or mechanical fields.
  • 3–5 years plant environment experience preferred.
  • Strong PLC/HMI programming and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read manuals and write simple correspondence.
  • Commitment to safety and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Direct maintenance and repair of facility machinery and electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues and coordinate with production.
  • Program PLC/HMI systems and interface with controls hardware.
  • Oversee contractors and ongoing projects in the plant.
  • Maintain logs, reports, and work orders; order supplies as needed.
  • Foster safety and food safety culture within the team.

The Opportunity

The Maintenance Team Lead participates in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repairs of electrical and mechanical appliances, systems, facilities and utilities.

Responsibilities
  • Direct the maintenance and repair of the facility’s machinery, equipment, and electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned; develop and implement schedules and procedures for preventative maintenance programs.
  • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) / Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming.
  • Work with production to solve issues; coordinate activities with other departments.
  • Installation and maintenance of controls hardware (transmitters, flow meters, RTDs, chart recorders, instrumentation, processors, PCs, etc.).
  • Oversee contractors and projects that are ongoing in the plant.
  • Be proactive in seeking out maintenance issues in the plant and solutions.
  • Perform standard construction activities.
  • Perform inspections of various electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain equipment such as lighting, pumps, production equipment, etc.
  • Ensure company tools and equipment are properly used, maintained, and stored.
  • Work safely and efficiently.
  • Complete and maintain logs, reports, records, work orders; order supplies and other materials.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with duties and assignments of the maintenance team.
  • Foster an employee safety, food safety and food security culture within the unit and support GNCI’s efforts through leadership and example.
  • Address personnel issues and participate in PDP reviews.
The Skills you will bring to the team
  • Two (2) year degree in electrical or controls related field or mechanical training and/or 3-5 years experience in a plant environment or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of flaxseed processing equipment and plant facilities preferred.
  • Self‑motivated, willing to accept responsibility, and able to make good decisions. Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to read and interpret instruction manuals.
  • Requires skills in troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of all plant equipment.
  • Ability to work under high pressure.
  • Must adhere to all company and regulator requirements pertaining to a flaxseed processing facility.
  • Adhere to all Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) safety requirements for a manufacturing operation.
  • Must have own hand tools and knowledge of proper use.
  • Comprehension of pneumatics, hydraulics, instrumentation, broilers, etc.
  • Requires skills in welding, electrical, troubleshooting, and maintenance & repair of all plant equipment.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Requires intermediate to advanced computer skills (email, MS Word, Excel, PLC/HMI programming packages, CAD, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Ability to stand and walk the entire shift if needed.
  • Ability to read and write instructions in English.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
