Off-shift position, demanding hands-on leadership, problem solving, and development of maintenance staff to ensure safe, efficient production and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing or food processing setting.
  • Experience with CMMS software and maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and production efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop proactive maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
  • Monitor maintenance performance metrics and seek opportunities for improvement.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians to build technical expertise and accountability.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Operations to prioritize projects and improvements.
  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance activities to maximize equipment life and performance.
  • Utilize CMMS to manage work orders, maintenance records, and asset history.

At Prestage Foods of Iowa, our Maintenance Supervisors play a critical role in keeping our facility operating safely, efficiently, and at peak performance. In this leadership role, you will guide a skilled team of maintenance professionals responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting production success.

This off-shift opportunity is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys solving problems, developing people, and making a direct impact on plant performance.

  • Lead daily maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and production efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop proactive maintenance strategies that reduce downtime and improve reliability.
  • Monitor maintenance performance metrics and continuously seek opportunities for improvement.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians to build technical expertise and accountability.
  • Conduct training, performance evaluations, and ongoing employee development activities.
  • Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure safe work practices and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance activities to maximize equipment life and performance.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs, maintenance schedules, and critical spare parts inventory.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations teams to prioritize maintenance projects and improvements.
  • Support capital projects, equipment installations, and process optimization efforts.
  • Utilize and improve the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, maintenance records, and asset history.
  • Establish and monitor key maintenance KPIs, including:
    • Preventive Maintenance Compliance
    • Equipment Downtime
    • Maintenance Costs
    • Work Order Completion Rates
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and reliability.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Safety, and Quality teams to support operational goals.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers as needed.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Promote and maintain a safety-first culture throughout all maintenance operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and food manufacturing standards.
  • Participate in Safety Management and Risk Management programs.
  • Lead investigations and corrective actions related to maintenance and safety incidents.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, food processing, or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in an off-shift environment.
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or formal trade school training.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience with CMMS software.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or protein processing environments.
