Maintenance Supervisor, 1st Shift

Opportunity
The primary function of the Supervisor, Cast Iron Maintenance, is to effectively manage maintenance labor, materials, and equipment to minimize production downtime and maintenance costs. Strong mechanical aptitude, team building skills, and the ability to develop and mentor associates are essential for this role.
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Supervise personnel (50-75% on the floor) and coach associates to enhance their knowledge.
- Support talent development by identifying strengths and weaknesses, and facilitating training beyond in-house programs.
- Identify gaps in equipment expertise and cross-train team members to mitigate risks.
- Recognize achievements, foster a positive environment, and support career growth.
- Conduct regular assessments, provide feedback, and set goals with associates.
- Enforce company policies and safety procedures, and handle disciplinary actions when necessary.
Work Management
- Assign work effectively to optimize equipment availability and team productivity.
- Coordinate with contractors and other departments, overseeing progress and quality of work.
- Review and validate incoming notifications daily.
- Adjust labor resources based on asset criticality and risk.
- Manage breakdown work, including sourcing and expediting materials.
- Participate in shutdown planning, prioritization, risk management, and post-job reviews.
Communication
- Lead effective meetings with clear agendas and task assignments.
- Participate actively in meetings, report risks, and align priorities.
- Maintain communication with stakeholders regarding equipment status and repairs.
- Encourage open and receptive feedback.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives using problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5S, RCA, BPR).
- Recommend solutions for recurring issues and capital investments.
- Audit work orders for accuracy and follow up on noncompliance.
- Ensure documentation accuracy and submit change requests as needed.
- Enhance wrench time by evaluating work execution times.
- Analyze metrics and reports to identify process improvements.
- Pursue self-development in technical and personal skills.
Skills and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical; blueprint reading skills.
- Associate’s degree in Supervisory Management or similar within 2 years preferred.
- 2-3 years maintenance experience preferred.
- SAP knowledge is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Salary range: $76,050 - $96,050, influenced by experience, education, and location. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
