Job summary

Highland Pellets in Arkansas is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of maintenance technicians and ensure reliable operation of pellet mill equipment. You will drive preventive maintenance schedules, mentor staff, and coordinate with planners to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities include root cause analysis, lubrication, alignment, gearboxes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems, with a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance across all mechanical operations.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent in mechanical/industrial maintenance preferred.
  • 10+ years in industrial maintenance in heavy industrial environments.
  • 5+ years leading maintenance teams in manufacturing settings.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings.
  • Experience with PM, PdM, vibration analysis, RCFA, lubrication best practices.
  • Familiarity with eMaint or similar CMMS is preferred.
  • Commitment to safety regulations and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Provide technical leadership for mechanical maintenance including rebuilds and alignments.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as liaison for technical issues with rotating equipment, conveyors, gearboxes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Implement RCFA to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and external vendors as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and parts inventories.

Description

  • Responsible for executing the published maintenance schedule and identifying appropriate actions for scheduled maintenance misses.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and address any issues or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Oversee and coordinate all mechanical and lubrication preventive maintenance (PM) activities to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance planner to schedule maintenance tasks effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Participate in creating and recommending improvements for equipment maintenance plans to optimize equipment performance and longevity.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance for mechanical maintenance activities including equipment rebuilds, precision alignment, bearing replacements, conveyor maintenance, gearbox repairs, hydraulic troubleshooting, and predictive maintenance initiatives.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards governing maintenance operations.
  • Act as a point of contact for resolving technical issues and troubleshooting mechanical equipment failures, including rotating equipment, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, fans, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and material handling equipment.
  • Implement corrective actions to address root causes of mechanical equipment failures, improve equipment reliability, and prevent recurrence through effective root cause failure analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Foster open communication and collaboration with other departments to prioritize maintenance activities and support production goals.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors as needed for specialized maintenance tasks or equipment repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment histories, and accurate min/max inventory levels alongside relevant team members.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in mechanical field, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of industrial maintenance and/or millwright experience in a manufacturing, wood products, pellet mill, sawmill, pulp and paper, mining, steel, power generation, or similar heavy industrial environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance supervisory experience leading maintenance teams in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and develop a diverse team.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical maintenance principles, millwright practices, rotating equipment, conveyors, material handling systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, fans, blowers, pellet mill equipment, and industrial machinery.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a focus on root cause analysis.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), vibration analysis, precision alignment, lubrication best practices, and root cause failure analysis (RCFA) preferred.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (eMaint) preferred.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and protocols, with a commitment to promoting a culture of safety.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Previous experience in a pellet mill, biomass facility, wood products operation, sawmill, pulp and paper mill, or other heavy industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
