Maintenance Supervisor
In this role the job holder is a Subject Matter Expert responsible for leading and/or supporting technical engineering projects. Projects will be executed in accordance with internal processes and procedures and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations with internal and external partners. The position holder may have people management responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing, planning and supporting technical projects
- Ensuring projects are completed in a safe and timely manner.
- Oversees equipment repairs and leads the Maintenance team through root cause investigations.
- Acts as a last escalation point for maintenance troubleshooting before they are escalated to the Engineering team.
- Works with Engineering in the manufacture and start‑up of new equipment, leading Maintenance in SAT completion.
- Maintains machine and equipment drawings as needed.
- Works with Engineering to ensure plant is in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Documents in West project management system, monitors and reports on budget and project status of assigned projects.
- Interfaces technical clarifications with internal stakeholders, external planners, and suppliers.
- Works with HSE and engineering to ensure equipment meets OSHA requirements.
- Participates in incident investigations, FMEAs, and direct completion of corrective actions.
- Examines “See‑Do‑Say” and Continuous Improvement ideas for feasibility, and coordinates completion of chosen ideas.
- Routinely evaluates and reviews employee performance and documents substandard behavior.
- Assumes responsibility for material purchasing as required.
- Provides assistance and makes recommendations to other Company facilities as required.
- Supports MPII program as required.
- Promotes and supports a Lean environment within the facility.
- Participates in validation activities as needed, in facility or off‑site.
- Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
- May have organizational and personnel management of employees.
Education
- Associate's Degree in Engineering required
- Engineering diploma required
- Formal trade school, vocational training, or equivalent experience preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred
Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive maintenance and leadership experience
- Experience with FDA regulations in relation to facilities, maintenance, and equipment repair
- Experience in plastic injection and/or medical device manufacturing preferred
- Experience in managing projects required
- Experience with automation systems required
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to direct department personnel in all relevant safety requirements related to work standards and equipment requirements.
- Understand and direct department personnel in all relevant quality requirements as per the company quality policy.
- Understand all relevant standard operating procedures as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.
- Support and contribute to Lean programs and activities toward delivery of plant targets.
- Understanding of facility and production equipment.
- Ability to read various schematics, including pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical.
- Ability to troubleshoot facility and production equipment issues and direct maintenance personnel in those activities.
- Ability to present complex issues in a comprehensible manner.
- Process‑oriented thinking in combination with a structured, independent and implementation‑oriented way of working.
License and Certifications
- Certification in one or more of the key building trades preferred.
Travel Requirements
10%: Up to 26 business days per year
Physical Requirements
Sedentary - Exerting up to 10 lbs/4 kg of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
