Job summary

Finlays Solutions in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance team on the 2nd shift. You will train staff, plan schedules, and ensure GMP compliance across production lines and facilities.

The role requires strong problem solving, experience with automated equipment, and a focus on continuous improvement. This is a Full-Time, non-exempt position reporting to the Maintenance Manager in Operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and bend for the entire shift.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written across departments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Experience with CMMS.
  • 7 years of experience supervising in a food and beverage maintenance environment.
  • 4 years of experience in beverage manufacturing fields: brewing, extracting, bottling, packaging, or beverage processing.
  • 4 years of experience with automated equipment (Siemens platform).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with technologies: VFDs, sensors, beverage processing equipment, production lines and changeovers, HVAC.

Responsibilities

  • Onboard Maintenance Department staff.
  • Organizes and oversees schedules and work of maintenance staff.
  • Performs departmental audits: PM, Safety, Repair Activities.
  • Manages departmental libraries: manuals, trouble logs.
  • Ensure GMPs are followed.
  • Maintain safe working practices including PPE, lockout/tagout, confined space, chemical handling.
  • Read, write, and enforce maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure operation of machinery by completing planned and unplanned maintenance on production equipment and facilities.
  • Demonstrate problem solving to identify equipment improvements.
  • Repair equipment to maximize performance and life cycle.
  • Participate in projects involving upgrades or installations.
  • Cross-train team members through mentoring and teamwork.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives with management.
  • Read schematics for process diagrams and BOMs.
  • Communicate across shifts and management about challenges and opportunities.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor will act as an educator to train and develop current and new team members when processes or conditions change, and when discussing performance expectations with direct reports. To ensure success, maintenance supervisors should display strong problem solving and decision-making skills with a solid understanding of manufacturing equipment maintenance, repairs, rebuilds, cleaning and operation.

  • Maintain safe working practices. This includes, but is not limited to in department managing of the following programs: PPE, lockout-tagout, confined space entry, chemical handling, working at height, etc.
  • Understand, write, and enforce manufacturing equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by ensuring team is completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, and facilities, including equipment and line changeovers
  • Demonstrate creative problem solving to identify and perform equipment improvements
  • Ensure equipment is repaired properly and completely to maximize performance and life cycle
  • Participate in special projects on equipment upgrades or installations
  • Utilize the specialized technical knowledge each team member possesses to best preform departmental tasking as well as cross training individuals through team ups.
  • Practice plant safety guidelines always and enforce them as a part of culture.
  • Demonstrate root-cause problem solving to identify and perform equipment repairs and improvements
  • Work directly with management to develop and execute projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and the resolution of reoccurring problems
  • Read and interpret schematics for process and instrumentation diagrams, and bill of materials (parts lists)
  • Communicate across shifts, departments, and management regarding any challenges and opportunities on the production lines

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Ability to troubleshoot
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience with sanitary pipes, fittings, and valves.
  • Experience with Fluid Power - pneumatic, hydraulic, pumps, valves
  • Experience with Power Transmission – gear, Sprockets, Chains, Pullies
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic
  • Proficient skills with precision measuring equipment, such as multi meter, calipers, flow, temp, and other analog process devices
  • Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within the Maintenance department
  • 7 years of experience supervising in a food and beverage maintenance environment
  • 4 years of experience in one of the following beverage manufacturing fields: brewing, extracting, bottling, packaging, or beverage processing
  • 4 years of experience with automated equipment, (siemens platform).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience with the following technologies:
    • Variable frequency drive (VFD), sensors: photo eyes, level, pressure, flow
    • Beverage processing equipment: brewing, extraction, admix, filling: rotary fillers, bag filling, Form fill seal
    • Manufacturing lines and changeovers: bottling, bags, pails, totes
    • HVAC including boilers, chillers, and air compressors
Physical Demands
  • Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled hours during peak periods or critical operations
  • Must possess adequate vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills to meet essential job performance and safety standards.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, and using hands for detailed tasks
  • Physically capable of performing tasks such as lifting, climbing, and using hand and power tools, including pallet jacks, scales, ladders, and standard material handling and cleaning equipment
  • Capable of safely lifting up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the day; ability to handle heavier items with proper lifting equipment or team-assisted techniques to ensure safety
  • Employees must be able to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment that may include exposure to odors, dust, moderate noise levels, and fluctuations in temperature and ventilation
  • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times, which may include but is not limited to: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, hairnets, uniforms, and face shields, as required by specific job duties and safety protocols
  • Ability to work in elevated positions, at up to 50 feet and using proper safety precautions
  • Must be able to work in limited or cramped spaces and extend arms into machinery for inspection, cleaning, or maintenance tasks, while following all established safety protocols
