Job summary

Kruger Family Industries, a leader in thermoformed solutions in North America, is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the setup, repair, and preventive maintenance of our machinery and equipment. You will lead a team of technicians, interpret blueprints and job orders, and ensure safety and production schedules are met.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED with 4+ years of supervisory experience, strong math and SPC knowledge, and the ability to optimize maintenance

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required with 4+ years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and specs.
  • Working knowledge of statistics and basics of SPC; strong math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Directs maintenance staff in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic work.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions and guides repairs of machinery and equipment.
  • Oversees dismantling, assembling and installation of industrial machinery.
  • Maintains spare parts and budget for maintenance projects.
  • Interprets specifications, plans, and schedules to meet production goals.
  • Maintains and improves Preventative Maintenance Program and tool crib operations.

SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, and in fabricating metal parts and tools by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directs workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Coordinates and maintains our Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Oversees Tool Crib operations and its associates.
  • Implements and monitors all calibration of maintenance equipment.
  • Prepares job costing reports on all maintenance capital projects.
  • Monitors monthly and year-to-date Maintenance budget.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Perform other job duties and assignments as requested or as business needs require.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the maintenance department and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or 4 + years related experience with three to five years of supervisory related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Working knowledge of statistics and basics of SPC.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described in this section are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The production area temperatures can fluctuate significantly based on the time of year. The noise levels can be moderate to high. The use of hearing protection and safety eyewear is required while on production floor. The use of additional specific safety equipment may be required. The noise level in the office is usually quiet. The noise level in production is usually moderate.

WORK AVAILABLITY AND TRAVEL

Must have the ability to work all shift schedules, periodic overtime and be available for periodic weekend work.
