Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee maintenance activities at a GEO facility in Lovejoy, GA.

The role requires at least three years of maintenance experience across electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, and carpentry disciplines, with supervisory responsibilities and strong communication skills. You will manage inspections, preventive maintenance, logs, and reports while coordinating repair orders and training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical trade or college-level courses desirable.
• Three (3) years’ experience in general maintenance (electricity, HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, carpentry).
• Must be able to perform the work of a Maintenance Technician.
• Must be physically able to perform duties.
• Candidate must be self-motivated and able to prioritize work.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading or supervising staff.
• Background check required by authorities.
• Able to use common department software.
• Must be a United States citizen.
• Residency within US or territories for 3+ years or equivalent federal employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance activities at the facility and supervise maintenance technicians or resident workers.
• Inspect, estimate repair costs, and schedule preventive maintenance for safety systems.
• Maintain logs and prepare progress and status reports.
• Assign and inspect work of maintenance personnel and coordinate repair orders.
• Log, monitor, and control tool dispensing; perform limited admin tasks.
• Initiate subordinate training and conduct regular meetings to ensure operational integrity.

Responsibilities

You Will Oversee The Maintenance Activities At Your Facility, Identify Maintenance Needs, And Supervise The Work Of Maintenance Technicians And/or Resident Workers. Your Tasks Will Include To

• Conduct inspections to determine the need for repair and estimate repair costs.
• Schedule preventive maintenance for all safety equipment and systems.
• Maintain logs of pending and completed maintenance activities.
• Prepare progress, status, and other reports as required by the Assistant Administrator/Support and review maintenance department activities, performance, and operations to determine departmental progress towards established goals and objectives.
• Assign and inspect work of maintenance personnel.
• Coordinate the preparation of repair orders, equipment records, requisitions, etc.
• Log, monitor, and control the dispensing of all tools used in maintenance activities.
• Perform limited administrative functions (evaluate subordinate personnel work performances and reports).
• Initiate and conduct subordinate training.
• Conduct meetings with subordinate personnel regularly to ensure the operations integrity of maintenance.

Minimum Requirements

The selected candidate is comfortable in a structured work environment, has excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and cares about others. Apply if you have the following:

• High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical trade or college-level courses are highly desirable.
• Three (3) years’ experience in the general maintenance associated with electricity, HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical and carpentry work.
• Must be able to perform the work associated with a Maintenance Technician.
• Must be in good physical condition to perform the duties of the position.
• Candidate needs to be self-motivated and able to prioritize work assignments.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have experience in leading or supervising a staff.
• Must be able to pass a background check with applicable authorities.
• Above average ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
• Must have a United States citizen.
• Must have resided within the United States or its territories for three (3) or more years out of the last five (5) years OR worked for the United States overseas for the Federal Government or US Military OR been a dependent of an employee who worked for the United States overseas for the Federal Government or US Military.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently: lift, carry up to 20 lbs., push or pull up to 40 lbs. or more; bend, stoop, reach above shoulder level, sit.
• Occasionally: lift, carry, push, or pull 60 lbs. or more, drive automatic equipment vehicles, climb, walk, stand, work in extreme temperatures.
