Job summary

Peregrine Hospitality in Blacksburg, VA seeks a Maintenance Supervisor to maintain hotel facilities, including building structure and all M&E/HVAC systems and related equipment. You will apply extensive knowledge of equipment and grounds maintenance to support guest experiences.

Responsibilities include overseeing upkeep, coordinating with Housekeeping and Front Office, and ensuring safety standards and preventive maintenance programs are followed.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining building systems including mechanical, electrical and HVAC.
• Ability to follow OSHA safety standards and hotel safety protocols.
• Ability to communicate in English with staff and guests.

Responsibilities

• Oversee upkeep of property including structure, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Perform maintenance tasks in guest rooms and public areas.
• Receive and prioritize work from the General Manager and coordinate with Housekeeping and Front Office.
• Ensure all work complies with safety protocols and OSHA standards.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance issues, hazards and cleanliness concerns.
• Organize, store, and maintain tools and materials for daily operations.
• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and work orders.
• Complete paperwork and update work order systems before shift changes.
• Follow hotel policies including safety, attendance, service and key control protocols.
• Supervise and collaborate with team members and other departments.
• Maintain knowledge of departmental policies and 4 Keys service standards.
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for rooms, equipment, and facilities using Transcendent.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Job description

As a Maintenance Supervisor you will be responsible for maintaining hotel facilities, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment in accordance with maintenance programs. You are enthusiastic, helpful, and dedicated to providing an exceptional guest experience through an expansive knowledge of all types of mechanical equipment and the maintenance of the grounds.

Essential Functions

• Oversee the upkeep of property, including the physical structure, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, in line with maintenance programs.
• Perform a variety of maintenance tasks in guest rooms and public areas, including painting, wallpaper application, furniture repairs, and resolving service requests.
• Receive and prioritize work assignments from the General Manager and coordinate with departments like Housekeeping and Front Office to complete projects efficiently.
• Ensure all work complies with hotel safety protocols and OSHA standards, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
• Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify maintenance issues, safety hazards, and cleanliness concerns, addressing them proactively.
• Organize, maintain, and properly store tools, equipment, and materials to ensure availability for daily operations.
• Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests and work orders, maintaining a high standard of service.
• Accurately complete paperwork, update work order systems, and relay necessary follow-up information before shift changes.
• Follow all hotel policies, including those related to safety, attendance, service, and key control protocols.
• Supervise and work collaboratively with team members and other departments, taking on additional duties or special projects as assigned to support hotel operations.
• Maintain knowledge of and comply with departmental policies, service procedures, 4 Keys service standards, and safety and security procedures.
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for rooms, equipment, and facilities using Transcendent
• Perform all additional duties as assigned by management.

• Must be able to speak and understand and communicate the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
• Safety requirements of PPE as needed for duty assigned and with use of required tools and equipment.

Pay

The rate of pay for this position is $25

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to:

• Flexible and long hours sometimes required
• Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors, and guests a normal in-person and phone conversation
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, and kneel
