Job summary

Glanbia is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to lead the Maintenance Team Leads and related personnel in managing and maintaining a safe, efficient plant. You will coach, develop skills, and implement optimization projects in a compliant, environmentally friendly manner.

You will plan master and shutdown activities, maintain equipment histories, and ensure adherence to USDA, EPA, GRMS, OSHA, and LOTO standards while driving continuous improvements and on-call support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or two-year college/technical school, or 4+ years’ experience.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Strong communication with managers, clients and the public.
  • Solid math skills and ability to interpret data and graphs.
  • Proficient PC skills including email, databases, and office apps.

The Opportunity

As aMaintenance Superintendent, you will manage and supervise Maintenance Team Leads and all of their functions to maintain a safe, efficient plant. Work closely with the Maintenance Team Leads and Maintenance Personnel coaching and developing their skill sets. Identify and implement optimization projects in the safest and environmentally friendly manner as possible.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise and direct Maintenance Team Leads with all duties.
  • Schedule maintenance staff and equipment repairs.
  • Maintain maintenance records on all equipment.
  • Model Glanbia values, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in verbal, written and behavioral communications.
  • Responsible for keeping plant producing, maintaining and troubleshooting processes and equipment to enhance their operation.
  • Ensure plant meets all USDA and EPA standards.
  • Ensure plant meets GRMS, OSHA, and LOTO requirements.
  • Develop and/or employ/maintain proper staff to meet plant needs.
  • Lead out in management style to foster proper attitudes and work ethic.
  • Provide timely planning of general work orders.
  • Develop a master plan, shutdown plan, and a schedule for each.
  • Optimize planned maintenance routes (PM's) and work with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Compile production loss reporting due to equipment failure.
  • Provide timely planning of Safety, USDA, Quality and General work orders.
  • Provide a yearly equipment condition analysis.
  • Maintain equipment history and equipment documents in a useable library.
  • Actively support, promote and engage in GPS; AM, PM, UAM, FI Pillar activities.
  • Effectively communicate and support DRM (daily review activities)
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
  • On call facility Support.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires an Associate's degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or minimum of 4 years' experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Safety Department.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

Typical Environmental Conditions
  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. office equipment and light traffic).
  • May be exposed to humidity, intense heat and cold, outdoor weather conditions, and fumes and toxic chemicals.
  • May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground with risk of fall, or areas with risk of electrical shock.
Travel Requirements
  • Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
