Job summary

CalPortland in Cantil, CA is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent to lead the maintenance of the cement plant and quarry, with about 20% hands-on fieldwork and 80% office work, reporting to the Plant Superintendent.

Responsibilities include directing preventive maintenance, coordinating CAPEX with Engineering, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance. A Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred and strong leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to train others and work in a team.
• Solid mechanical/control system skills.
• Ability to operate mobile equipment (forklift, manlift, etc.).
• Able to work in confined spaces and lift over 50 lbs, elevations up to 100 ft.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all maintenance activities in the Plant and Quarry, including mobile equipment.
• Oversee preventative maintenance and emergency repairs to equipment.
• Supervise planners, maintenance engineers, electrical, mechanical, and automation supervisors.
• Stay within budgets set by the Plant Superintendent.
• Assist Plant Superintendent in kiln reline planning and execution.
• Develop and implement training programs for plant personnel.
• Collaborate with Engineering on CAPEX project specs and development.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local labor, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Improve machinery reliability and manage maintenance planning, outages, and predictive maintenance.
• Manage spare parts; plan, coordinate, and schedule work.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for the maintenance of the cement plant and Quarry in accordance with established procedures and schedules. This position requires approximately 20% hands-on fieldwork and 80% office work and works at the close direction of the Plant Superintendent.

Compensation

$130k-$160k DOE

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the direction and management of all maintenance activities in the Plant and Quarry including mobile equipment
• Organizes and oversees all preventative maintenance work as well as emergency repairs to equipment
• Supervises the planner, maintenance engineer, electrical, mechanical, and automation supervisors.
• Responsible for staying within budgets set by the Plant Superintendent
• Assists Plant superintendent in Kiln reline organization, planning, and execution
• Develop and implement successful training programs for plant personnel
• Works with the Engineering department on specifications and development of CAPEX projects
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local labor, safety, and environmental regulations
• Responsible for machinery reliability improvement
• Responsible for maintenance planning, daily and yearly outages, and predictive maintenance
• Manages spare parts
• Plans, coordinates, and schedules work required

Education

Bachelor‘s degree in engineering preferred

Requirements/Qualifications

• Physical requirements: working in confined spaces, welding, cutting, ability to lift over 50 lbs., climbup to elevations of 100 ft.
• Ability to operate mobile equipment (forklift, manlift, front-end loader, boom truck, crane)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Solid mechanical/control system skills and the ability to train others
• Able to work effectively both individually and as part of a team
• Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
