Job summary

City of Bartow in Bartow, FL is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Worker to perform skilled and routine maintenance on a variety of building and infrastructure projects. You will work under supervision to inspect, repair, and maintain building systems, use hand and power tools, and assist with safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a valid Florida driver's license and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

Performs intermediate skilled work on a variety of construction, maintenance and repair projects. Operates specialized equipment in connection with task. Does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.

• Responsible for performing routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment to ensure the proper functioning and safety of a facility
• Performs minor repairs like painting, drywall patching, and fixing doors while identifying issues requiring specialized technicians when necessary
• Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair
• Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs
• Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed
• Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
• Performs routine maintenance on building and infrastructure systems
• Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities and amenities
• Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance

Education and Experience:

Highschool diploma or equivalent; entry level position, no experience required; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities and other competencies necessary for the position.

• Valid Florida Driver’s License required
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
