Job summary

Lane County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to perform a variety of maintenance and repair work essential to the functioning of large building systems, including operation, monitoring, adjustment and repair.

The position is located at the Lane County Jail Facility with a Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm schedule; overtime may be required and a valid Oregon driver’s license is required at appointment.

Qualifications

  • Two years of responsible building maintenance experience, preferably with large building systems; including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC repair is desirable.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair work essential to the functioning of large building systems, including operation, monitoring, adjustment and repair.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and coordinate with other facilities staff as needed.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with applicable policies during all maintenance activities.

About the Position

To perform a variety of maintenance and repair work essential to the functioning of large building systems to include operation, monitoring, adjustment and repair; and to perform related duties as assigned.

About the Division

The Sheriff's Office, committed to justice and integrity, is sworn to protect and honored to serve the residents and visitors of Lane County.

The Sheriff's Office provides an array of correctional services including a jail, a community corrections center (work-release), and out-of-custody programs such as community service and an inmate work crew.

Lane County covers over 4,600 square miles and is nearly the size of the state of Connecticut. Nearly 300 staff, along with many volunteers, support these services and utilizes land, marine, air and other assets to maximize our response capability.

Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm;

Regular shift is Monday through Friday. Some overtime may be required. *This is an AFSCME represented position*

Training:
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Additional specialized training in plumbing, carpentry, electrical or HVAC is desirable.
Experience:
  • Two years of responsible building maintenance experience, preferably with large building systems; including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC repair is desirable.

An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying

Special Requirements:
  • Must be in possession of a valid driver's license at the time of application, and a valid Oregon Driver's license by time of appointment

Pre-Employment background check

Background Investigation: A thorough background investigation will be conducted, and a medical examination with a drug screen and TB test. You must pass the background investigation in order to continue in the hiring process.
