Job summary

Savvyherb is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to join our cannabis cultivation facility on a full-time basis. The role covers routine installation, inspection, upkeep and repair of machines and equipment on-site, with occasional cross-department support.

You will complete maintenance checklists, troubleshoot electrical, plumbing and structural issues, manage outside contractors, and maintain records and quality control while upholding safety and SOPs.

• The Maintenance Specialist position is full-time, paying $18/hour, responsible for routine installation, inspection, upkeep, and repair of machines and equipment at a cannabis cultivation facility, with occasional cross-department support.
• Key duties include completing maintenance checklists, troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, and structural issues, managing outside contractors, maintaining records and quality control, and ensuring adherence to safety and company policies.
• Minimum qualifications require 1-3 years of related experience, basic electrical/HVAC/plumbing knowledge, physical ability to perform manual tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, and eligibility to work in the U.S. with cannabis industry agent registration.
• The role involves physical demands such as climbing ladders up to 25 feet, working at heights and scaffolding, exposure to varying environmental conditions, and operating in a moderate noise warehouse setting with some risk of mechanical injury or electrical shock.

The Maintenance Specialist provides on-site support to facilities maintenance operations within a cannabis cultivation facility. As a Maintenance Specialist, you are responsible for completing assigned maintenance tasks involving basic installation, inspection, and routine upkeep and repair of machines and equipment. Maintenance Specialists may be cross-trained and asked to support other departments occasionally to meet business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.
• Document and troubleshoot minor maintenance issues involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair and replacement.
• Report all maintenance issues to Maintenance Manager.
• Maintain record of scheduled maintenance procedures.
• Perform custodial functions to clean and maintain the building both inside and outside.
• Assist with the management of outside contractors for required service for the facilities and equipment.
• Monitor and maintain quality control measures in accordance with state and local laws.
• Adhere to company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the facility and production areas.
• Immediately inform Maintenance Manager of any system discrepancies.
• Work within company continuous improvement system and strive to increase productivity.
• Provide support to additional cultivation, harvest, and production teams as needed to achieve facility production goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 1-3 years' experience in a related position.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and/or plumbing preferred.
• Able to follow detailed instruction and capable of performing repetitive tasks.
• Must have a positive attitude and work well with others in a team environment.
• Willing to learn about, operate, and maintain facility equipment in a safe manner.
• Comfortable with heights, soil and water, and tight spaces.
• Ability to safely climb, squat, bend, twist, kneel and stand for at least 8 hours per day, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be 21 years of age or older and able to successfully register with the state's cannabis commission as an agent.
• Must comply with all laws, regulations, and policies associated with the industry.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Previous facilities maintenance experience in a regulated production facility (food, beverage, CPG, etc.) preferred.

Physical and Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position, move and/or position oneself, communicate, operate and/or prepare, place, position objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally move packages weighing up to 50 lb. Able to stand for 90% of the time. Comfortable with heights, occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to service the lights, filters, trellis netting and ceiling fans up to 25ft. Comfortable working atop and traversing scaffolding, when required. Comfortable with changing environment temperatures and humidity. Exposure to pollen, dust, dander, and other nature elements. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close observation and the ability to adjust focus.
