Alro Steel is seeking a Maintenance Specialist in Van Buren Township, MI. The role focuses on keeping equipment and facilities running smoothly to minimize downtime and ensure safe daily operations.

You will troubleshoot forklifts, cutting machinery, and related systems, perform preventive maintenance, and coordinate with contractors while maintaining thorough records and inventory control.

Qualifications

• Electrical troubleshooting of AC and DC systems.
• Mechanical troubleshooting with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and work orders.
• Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair forklifts, torch cutting machinery, and steel-cutting band saws.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime.
• Respond to equipment issues in a timely and safe manner.
• Coordinate with outside contractors and maintain safety in the building.
• Support facility maintenance, including minor plumbing, carpentry, and repairs.
• Maintain maintenance records and document completed work.
• Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and repair parts.
• Follow safety procedures during maintenance activities.

Maintenance Specialist

Position Summary The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment and facilities to support safe, reliable daily operations. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, supporting production flow, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair forklifts, torch cutting machinery, and steel-cutting band saws
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime
• Respond to equipment issues in a timely and safe manner
• Coordinate with outside contractors and maintain their safety while in the building
• Support facility maintenance, including minor plumbing, carpentry, and repairs
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and document completed work
• Manage inventory of maintenance supplies, consumables, and repair parts
• Follow all safety procedures and reinforce safe work practices during maintenance activities

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Electrical troubleshooting skills (AC and DC systems)
• Mechanical troubleshooting experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
• Ability to work independently and prioritize work in a fast paced environment

Preferred Experience
