This position supports the safe and reliable operation of critical plant equipment by diagnosing mechanical failures, executing high-quality repairs, and applying advanced mechanical-maintenance practices.

The Maintenance Specialist partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and other technical personnel to resolve equipment issues, improve equipment reliability, support less-experienced mechanics, and minimize plant downtime. This posting is based on the advanced Maintenance Mechanic II scope in the PDR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot pumps, compressors, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, conveyors, valves, and related mechanical equipment.
  • Perform advanced mechanical inspections, dimensional checks, equipment rebuilds, and bearing and seal installation.
  • Execute precision-maintenance activities including laser shaft alignment and soft-foot correction.
  • Support condition-monitoring activities and investigate abnormal equipment conditions.
  • Plan field execution for assigned work and identify required tooling, materials, rigging, and equipment before work begins.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to less-experienced maintenance mechanics.
  • Apply lockout/tagout, line-breaking, confined-space, fall-protection, respiratory-protection, rigging, and approved lift-plan requirements.
  • Document equipment clearances, failure evidence, parts used, testing results, and as-found/as-left conditions.
  • Identify recurring equipment failures and communicate findings requiring deeper reliability or engineering review.
  • Escalate scope, material, equipment, and drawing discrepancies requiring Engineering or change-control review.
  • Verify guards, lubrication, alignment, fasteners, equipment condition, and housekeeping before equipment is released for return to service.
  • Maintain accurate work-order and equipment-history information within company systems.
  • Support outages, equipment startups, commissioning activities, and reliability-improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other advanced mechanical maintenance and reliability duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Industrial maintenance diploma, apprenticeship, or equivalent mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated industrial mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting capability.
  • Working knowledge of pumps, compressors, gearboxes, valves, bearings, seals, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, conveyors, and rotating equipment.
  • Experience with precision measurement, mechanical equipment rebuilds, bearing and seal installation, and equipment alignment.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance documentation and identify conditions requiring Engineering or change-control review.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently execute complex mechanical work while coordinating effectively with Operations, Engineering, and other maintenance personnel.
Preferred
  • NCCER Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, millwright credential, or equivalent recognized craft qualification.
  • Vibration Analysis Category I certification.
  • Formal training or demonstrated experience in laser shaft alignment.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with condition monitoring and equipment-failure analysis.
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, chlor-alkali, refining, power generation, or another process industry.
  • Experience using a CMMS for maintenance history and equipment documentation. [FINAL_Eddy…eadiness 1 | Excel]
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, work at heights, and access equipment throughout an industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to safely use industrial hand tools, power tools, precision-measurement instruments, alignment equipment, and mechanical-maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical activities associated with equipment inspection, disassembly, repair, installation, alignment, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to wear required PPE appropriate to mechanical maintenance work within an industrial chemical manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions

This position operates within an active chemical manufacturing facility and regularly interacts with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractor personnel.
