Job summary

LANXESS Deutschland GmbH in El Dorado, AR is seeking an experienced Shutdown Coordinator to develop and execute comprehensive shutdown plans for the Polymer Additives unit. You will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate contractors, manage resources, and ensure cost-effective execution aligned with safety standards.

Requires 5–10 years in industrial maintenance with at least 2 years in shutdown coordination or project management. Proficiency with MS Project, SAP, and Prometheus is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; technical degree preferred.
  • 5–10 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in shutdown coordination, planning, or project management.
  • Proficiency with planning and scheduling software, including Microsoft Project, SAP, and Prometheus.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance processes, plant equipment, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive shutdown plans, including scope definition, timelines, resource requirements, and task prioritization.
  • Build and maintain detailed shutdown schedules to minimize operational impact and optimize efficiency.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and contractors to ensure all shutdown activities are aligned and execution-ready.
  • Allocate manpower, equipment, and materials; secure contractor services and ensure timely delivery of required resources.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, track invoices, and monitor shutdown budgets to ensure cost control.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for shutdown communications, leading planning meetings and progress reviews.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company safety standards and regulatory requirements; conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.
  • Oversee shutdown execution, monitor schedule adherence, resolve issues in real time, and lead post-shutdown reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.

Experience / Skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Technical degree or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5–10 years of relevant industrial maintenance experience (mechanical and/or I&E), including at least 2 years in shutdown coordination, planning, or project management.
  • Proficiency with planning and scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, SAP, Prometheus).
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance processes, plant equipment, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, purchase orders, and contractor coordination.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
