Minimum Qualifications
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
- Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
- Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
- Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.

Job Duties
- Serves as lead worker over assigned maintenance personnel; directs work assignments, coordinates workflow, and inspects completed work.
- Surveys maintenance jobs and ensures appropriate tools, materials, equipment, and resources are available.
- Provides guidance, training, and technical assistance to subordinate maintenance personnel.
- Performs advanced installation, replacement, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Repairs and maintains pumps, compressors, motors, air handlers, cooling towers, controls, and related mechanical equipment.
- Performs advanced welding and metal fabrication, including specialized welding of aluminum, stainless steel, and other non-ferrous metals.
- Operates machining and fabrication equipment to manufacture or repair parts for maintenance and mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoots equipment failures, determines necessary repairs, estimates repair costs, and requisitions required supplies and equipment.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, plans, and technical drawings and oversees maintenance projects to ensure work is completed safely and according to specifications.
- Maintains required maintenance records and documentation and performs emergency repairs, special projects, equipment moves, and other duties as assigned.
Position-Specific Details
Appointment Type: Probational
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work hours are 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday. Occasional weekends and on-call coverage.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The approved hiring range is $21.05-$29.47.
