Job summary

Special Metals Corporation is seeking an experienced mechanical maintenance repairer for our Dunkirk facility. The role covers millwright and welding crafts with emphasis on hydraulic systems, overhead cranes, and furnaces.

A high school diploma is required, and hands-on skills in GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, arc gouging are necessary. Primary duties include inspecting, repairing, and maintaining plant equipment, reading prints, and fabricating fixtures.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Special Metals Corporation is looking for an experienced mechanical maintenance repairer for our Dunkirk Facility.


Candidate must have the ability to perform the technical duties of the millwright and welding crafts. Knowledge of hydraulic systems is desirable. Duties will include maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems, overhead cranes, gas furnaces, refractory, and mechanical drive systems. GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and arc gouging skills are necessary. A High School diploma is required.


PRIMARY FUNCTION


To inspect, repair, and maintain all plant equipment, including furnaces, presses, and all related equipment inside and outside the plant. Includes Carpenter, Electrician, Millright, and Welder craft skills.


Tools And Equipment:

Hand tools such as: socket; box end; open-end wrenches; pliers; screw drivers; portable power tools; drills; skill saw; sander; grinder; oxyacetylene cutting outfit; electric arc welding equipment; micrometers; depth gauges; vernier calipers; sheet metal shears; voltage tester; ammeter and voltmeter; pipe wrenches; pipe threaders; taps and dies for chasing and cutting machine threads; saws; cross-cut and rip; hand hammer; tube cutters and flaring tool; hydraulic jacks; hydraulic pumps; water pumps; fork lift trucks; come-a-long; chains; slings; ladders; drainage snakes; bolt cutters; pressure gauges; power hack saw; gear pullers; \"C\" clamps; chain falls; clock and tackle; soldering iron; blueprints and sketches.


Materials:

Forging presses, and their component parts, all other plant equipment, including but not limited to; hydraulic, electrical, and plumbing systems; heating and cooling systems; recirculating water systems; gas and electric ovens and furnaces, cranes, plant utilities, air compressors, exhaust systems, etc.


Source Of Supervision:

Plant Superintendent, Maintenance Foreman, and Production Foreman.


Direction Exercised:

May direct production employees while assisting during breakdowns.


Working Procedure:


  1. Receives instructions, prints, sketches, and work orders for jobs.

  2. Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains all plant equipment including but not limited to items under \"Materials.\"

  3. Fabricates fixtures for plant equipment, working from prints or sketches, using various measuring devices, arc or gas welding equipment, power and hand tools.

  4. Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains plant electrical systems, using proper electrical testing instruments, schematics, etc.

  5. May install, or aid in installation of new equipment or re-location of present equipment as required.

  6. Advises supervision of problem areas, developed during Preventive Maintenance checks.

  7. May determine and advise supervisors of material requirements for jobs.*

Benefits and Compensation:


  • For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $35.01 to $35.01 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors.

  • Employees will receive 40 hours paid time off every year.

  • Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays.

  • Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.

  • Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

  • For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter.
