Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a General Manager of Maintenance & Repair to lead port terminal equipment upkeep and repair operations. You will manage a union workforce, enforce safety, and implement plans to meet customer needs while coordinating with leadership on labor relations and asset management.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 3+ years of supervisory experience, PLC knowledge, and a valid license/TWIC as you support an onsite, 24/7 operation in Oakland, CA.

Qualifications

• Requires B.S. in Marine, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and relevant work exp.
• Minimum 3 years of general supervisory experience in maintenance/repair or union environments.
• Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (GE, FUJI, Siemens, OMRON) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanics and leadmen, assign work, and evaluate performance.
• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures; enforce safety.
• Oversee daily operations to improve efficiency and quality of work; manage payroll and scheduling.
• Control inventory, parts ordering, and financial reporting; ensure accurate billing.
• Oversee labor relations, adhere to CBA, and participate in hiring discussions.
