Job summary

Denton County, TX is seeking a Maintenance Specialist I to maintain and repair county buildings and facilities. The role involves semi-skilled work in carpentry, sheetrock, painting, and related trades, with duties including hanging sheetrock, installing ceilings, patching walls, and basic electrical/plumbing support.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience, with millwork or fabrication experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with at least 1 year of related field experience.
• Experience in millwork, carpentry or fabrication preferred.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain Texas license within 90 days.
• Ability to pass State Criminal History background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair of County buildings and facilities.
• Hang, finish, and repair sheetrock, paneling, wallpaper, tile, and moldings.
• Install and repair carpeting, glass panes, and suspended ceiling grids/tiles.
• Carpentry and renovation of floors, roofs, doors, windows, partitions, and cabinets.
• Obtain bids from vendors/contractors as needed.
• Move and assemble furniture; set up meeting rooms.
• Operate trucks/trailers to transport materials or supplies.
• Occasional metal welding and fabrication; maintain a clean work site.
• Flexible hours including before/after regular hours and weekends as needed.
