Job summary

Post Holdings, Inc. is looking for a Reliability Engineer to join its team in Tremonton, Utah. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining equipment reliability by planning and coordinating maintenance activities for production. You will lead predictive and preventive maintenance programs and perform root cause analysis to enhance equipment performance.

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and have over five years of maintenance experience within a food processing environment. Strong leadership skills and proficiency in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies are required.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of engineering or maintenance experience in a food processing plant environment.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Possesses awareness of federal, state, and local engineering codes.

Location Description

The Post Consumer Brands plant in Tremonton, Utah is part of the company's West Coast network, with more than 220 team members supplying Malt-O-Meal bag cereals, PEBBLES cereals, and more to a variety of retailers. When you join the Tremonton team, you'll be joining a group of motivated problem-solvers and safety-first culture.

Responsibilities

Function: Own equipment reliability for assigned areas by planning, prioritizing, and coordinating repair and maintenance activities to achieve uptime and efficiency targets. Lead the execution and continuous improvement of predictive, preventive, and reactive maintenance programs. Analyze equipment history, failure modes, and high-risk threats to manufacturing capacity, and develop and implement plans to eliminate recurring issues. Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for assigned systems, providing technical guidance and driving best practices in troubleshooting, repair strategies, and asset care. Partner with operations, maintenance, and technical teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable equipment performance.

Major Job Activities / Duties
  • Demonstrate and ensure safe work practices.
  • Devise and manage reliability and predictive maintenance plans for assigned lines.
  • Improve equipment monitoring systems to predict and prevent equipment failures.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis of equipment downtime and implement sustainable plans so failures can be prevented in the future.
  • Analyze repetitive maintenance events to develop creative solutions to prevent recurring problems.
  • Uses Lean/Six Sigma tools and methodologies to improve reliability.
  • Provides input on new equipment purchases to ensure reliability is designed into purchasing requirements.
  • Assist with and manage capital projects for equipment replacement and modifications.
  • Provides feedback to Line Managers and Team Members on operating procedures to improve reliability.
  • Create and manage preventive maintenance programs including creation of documents, procedures and work timing.
  • Coordinate projects and repairs with contractors/vendors and OEM resources.
  • Manage critical spare part inventories and develop replacement plans for obsolete equipment and spare parts.
Job Complexity

Internal: Primary contact with multiple functional groups to solve problems, exchange information and maintain production. Interact with other departments to meet business needs. Key contact in Supply Chain planning process for maintenance events.

External: Develops a partnering relationship with engineering professionals and vendors to advance current and future company goals.

Problem Solving: Apply root cause analysis tools and methods to solve maintenance reliability issues. Lead problem‑solving initiatives on recurring or high‑risk maintenance issues. Be an active technical resource on other problems.

Job Accountability

Work Structure: Works under the direct supervision of the Reliability and Maintenance Manager to provide maintenance planning and technical support to Operations department. Receives indirect supervision from Operations Managers to leverage key maintenance project resources. Manages and prioritizes multiple work activities to the best interest of Plant's operational needs.

Responsibilities: Work with Operations Manager, Reliability and Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor and Supply Chain Planners to prioritize and budget time, money, and resources for multiple activities. Decisions can impact up to $20MM of the operating budget and a significant part of a $500MM+ annual production/sales volume and several million dollars in plant equipment and an area which includes 4 process lines and up to 500,000 square feet of floor space.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering preferred; relevant technical training, certificates or licenses required in lieu of degree.

Experience: Five or more years of engineering or maintenance experience in a food processing plant environment. 2+ years of leadership experience preferred.

Technical Skills: Leadership and problem‑solving skills. Able to achieve results while simultaneously executing multiple projects. Experience using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and developing risk assessment / reliability models. Experience with CMMS programs, specifically Infor 7i. Possesses an up‑to‑date awareness of federal, state, and local engineering codes and regulations and industry standard OSHA requirements. Demonstrated understanding of industrial electrical systems and the ability to read and interpret prints and schematics. Working knowledge of machining and welding fundamentals; experience with utilities, HVAC systems, mechanical power transmission, and PLCs/networking is preferred.

Management Skills: Excellent communication skills. Able to work effectively in a team‑based environment with multiple functional groups and lead both maintenance technicians and operations personnel when required.
