Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • Inspect and perform routine maintenance including lubrication.
  • Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Support 6S/continuous improvement and safety initiatives.
  • Train machine operators on TPM inspections and procedures.
  • Monitor cycle times, yields and overall equipment efficiency.
  • Install new equipment and remove old equipment when needed.

The Maintenance Process Technician is required to install new equipment, conduct routine maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment faults on site. They are also required to assist in the removal of old equipment and train staff on equipment operating procedures. The maintenance engineer has extensive knowledge of industrial equipment, the ability to work well under pressure, and demonstrate high-level problem-solving skills. The maintenance engineer service, troubleshoot, and repair equipment to help reduce or eliminate extended equipment downtime.

In addition, the Maintenance Process Technician actively supports 6S / continuous improvement initiatives by maintaining workplace organization, identifying process inefficiencies, and participating in corrective and preventive actions. The role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting while contributing to team goals related to safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

This position is on-site in our Westfield, MA location Monday through Friday; however, hours may vary based on business needs, including occasional evenings or weekends.

How you will make an impact
  • Program and troubleshoot PLC’s, with an understanding of Allen-Bradley and Siemens controllers.
  • Inspecting equipment and conducting routine maintenance, including lubrication of machines and training machine operators on daily TPM’s inspections preventative maintenance during downtime and product changeovers.
  • Leverages electrical engineering principles to identify root causes of equipment failures, implement corrective actions, and support process and equipment improvements.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including AC/DC circuits, motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLCs, and industrial automation systems.
  • Servicing and replacing old or faulty equipment and working with the maintenance manager, machine operators, and the rest of the maintenance team.
  • Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and provided suggestions for process improvement and machine running standards.
  • Removing old equipment and installing new machines to meet business needs and increased compacity and productivity.
  • Provide Project Management technical support and training on new equipment. Assist in writing work instructions and job hazard analysis (JHA) for new equipment and machines, to include identifying safety concerns and correcting them as required before new equipment is released to production.
  • Adheres to all safety and performance regulations, policies, and procedures. This includes reviewing and helping the safety committee team keep Job Hazard Analysis up to date and working with the production staff and safety committee in engineering innovative ideas and projects to improve safety and performance.
  • Become familiarized with all equipment and technical representatives of our machine and equipment companies to better solve problems in an urgent manner.
  • Monitor cycle times, production yields and overall efficiency of manufacturing lines.
  • Diagnose manufacturing defects and implement corrective adjustments on equipment. Work closely with the Quality Manager.
  • Other duties as required by the maintenance manager.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred, but not required.
  • Proven work experience as a maintenance engineer.
  • Knowledge of EPA and OSHA guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.
  • Ability to read system schematics.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills utilizing laptop computers to isolate issues.
  • Understanding of safety and equipment procedures.
  • Provide good communication and training skills with all employees.
  • Ability to work with heavy equipment.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS (eMaint) and ability to generate multiple reports and analyze downtime data from its reports.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma and OEE.
  • Use eMaint tools to help develop an effective Preventive and Predictive maintenance program.
  • Office and computer proficiency, with Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Must be able to pull, push, lift, move, and adjust products up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to engage in periods of long standing, walking, and consistent lifting.
  • Must be able to work with sharp tools and wear hearing protection as required.
  • Hearing protection and steel toed shoes are required.
  • Safety, hygiene and cleanliness is strictly enforced.

Compensation & Benefits

$90,000 - $105,000 annually with an additional 10% annual bonus target. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position. ACR reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. ACR offers a competitive total rewards package inclusive of health and financial wellness benefits, fringe benefits, paid time off, and an annual bonus program.
