Job summary

The Castle Hill YMCA, part of the YMCA of Greater New York, is seeking a Maintenance Worker/Porter II for the Bronx location. This part-time/regular role involves cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas, window washing, pool cleaning, snow removal, and event setup.

Flexible schedule includes nights and weekends. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and at least 1 year of related experience, with knowledge of cleaning methods and basic facility maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of related experience and increased area of responsibility.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, along with a basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
• Understanding of light electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry.
• Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
• Obtain the YMCA Housekeeping Certificate within one(1) year of attaining the position.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the branch is attractive and clean by performing daily cleaning tasks.
• Operate related equipment and report repairs to supervisor.
• Maintain security of the branch during shift and report hazards.
• Restock soap, towels, and supplies as needed.
• Set up furniture or rooms for events and meetings.
• Strip and wax floors and shampoo rugs as required.
• Follow applicable health, safety, and housekeeping policies.
