Job summary

Magna Exteriors in Carrollton, GA is seeking a maintenance technician to support production equipment and drive improvements. You will troubleshoot PLCs, program controllers, and work with robots and HMIs while ensuring safety and equipment uptime.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Identify and document product/process difficulties per IATF directives.
  • Propose and implement solutions to prevent non-conformities.
  • Verify effectiveness of implemented solutions and update control plans.
  • Develop parameter settings for equipment to meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to collect performance data on new tech.
  • Perform maintenance per TPM plan and maintain logs.
  • Support continuous improvement teams; operate across shifts including overtime.

Job Responsibilities

General Job Duties

  • Follow all safety guidelines and usage of all Personal Protective Equipment.

  • Report any unsafe conditions immediately, including injuries, accidents, illnesses, and property damage.

  • Cooperate with OSHA/State Osha inspectors.

  • Make sure you are trained on any machinery or equipment that you are to use.

  • Do no use, operate or make changes to any equipment or machinery that may endanger any persons, including yourself.


Specific Job Duties


  • Support process and maintenance activities consistent with departmental expectations and goals.

  • Identify, communicate and document any difficulties relating to the product, process and/or quality system as per Decostars IATF 16949 directives.

  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to the product, process and/or quality system through designated channels.

  • Verify implementation and effectiveness of recommended solutions.

  • Participate in control plan updates as per IATF 16949 protocol.

  • Develop, implement, verify and document parameter settings for all application equipment to maintain the specified quality standards detailed in the control plans of all products.

  • Work with equipment suppliers to accurately collect application and performance data on new technology tested in the process.

  • Complete all maintenance as directed in the total productive maintenance plan to ensure optimum performance of the equipment.

  • Maintain organized daily logs of all maintenance activities, process parameter data and verification records.

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement teams as assigned by the Maintenance manager.

  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends and overtime.

  • Train personnel as directed by the department leadership in the implementation of the specified preventative maintenance methods in accordance to the control plans established.

  • Report all accidents, injuries, and near misses immediately.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department leadership.


Educational Requirements

Associate’s Degree in a related and technical field of study required. Six years work related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered. Must be computer literate on the Windows platform.


Skills and Experience


  • Advanced troubleshooting of PLC hardware, I/O modules, remote racks, power supplies, communication cards, and field devices.

  • Ability to monitor, edit, and troubleshoot ladder logic, function block, and structured control programs in accordance with company change control procedures.

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix or similar PLC platforms, including online diagnostics, fault recovery, and program backups.

  • Knowledge of HMI screens, alarm history, tag databases, operator interface diagnostics, and process parameter verification.

  • Ability to troubleshoot industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet and other plant floor communication systems.

  • Experience integrating PLCs with robots, drives, HMIs, barcode scanners, vision systems, process controllers, safety PLCs, and production monitoring systems.

  • Ability to troubleshoot safety circuits, safety relays, safety PLC logic, light curtains, emergency stops, interlocks, and reset circuits.

  • Ability to document controls changes, maintain revision history, update electrical drawings, and communicate changes to maintenance, production, engineering, and leadership.

  • Knowledge of downtime analysis, alarm trending, fault history review, and continuous improvement methods to improve equipment uptime and process stability.

  • Familiar with electrical code compliance and safe installation practices for industrial equipment.


Physical Requirement

This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while standing or walking a minimum of eight (8) hours a day, the ability to lift up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis, and the ability to perform work that is below the knees and above the shoulders on an occasional basis. Ability to climb stairs is necessary. Ability to wear a respirator is necessary. Good vision at a close distance is required. Training Requirements

You will receive training to perform your job on an on-going basis concurrent with Decostar business operations. Training areas will include safety, quality, continuous improvement and other job specific training that is determined to be an essential part of your job and Decostar business operations.
