Job summary

Novo Nordisk in Clayton, NC seeks a maintenance professional to support reliability-centered maintenance for expansion projects or optimize maintenance in an active area. You will plan, coordinate, and execute preventive maintenance with technicians and work with logistics for scheduling.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, 3+ years in pharma maintenance, knowledge of HVAC and automated systems, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree with 1 year of maintenance/engineering experience or equivalent training required.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in maintenance/engineering, preferably in a pharmaceutical environment.
  • Knowledgeable in HVAC, aseptic processes, automated assembly/packaging, compressed air, steam, chilled water, pharmaceutical utilities, fermentation, sterilization, water purification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and/or control systems preferred.
  • Excellent maintenance craft skills preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in fundamentals of lean and/or reliability excellence preferred.
  • Computer literacy to include SAP & Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required.
  • Ability to demonstrate systematic problem-solving & troubleshooting; strong time management.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain SAP master data and maintenance plans for assigned processes.
  • Prepare PM work packages for maintenance technicians, including docs, parts, and tools.
  • Process confirmation of preventive maintenance (PMs).
  • Coordinate with logistics and operations to schedule planned maintenance activities.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of PM tasks and frequencies.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance tactics and strategies.
  • Participate in work order reviews to identify recurring failures.
  • Support reliability team response activities and document issues for quick resolution.
  • Participate in plant Closedown Team planning and execution.
  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in duties.

The Position

Based on assigned area of accountability will be required to either assist with all elements of developing a reliability-centered maintenance organization related to expansion project or if supporting a fully operational area, will be required to reduce the time for technicians to perform maintenance work by anticipating, planning & coordinating maintenance jobs & projects.

Relationships

Reports to Senior Manager.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain SAP master data & maintenance plans for assigned processes
  • Prepare PM work packages for maintenance technicians to include required documents, parts & specialized tools
  • Process confirmation of preventive maintenance (PMs)
  • Work with logistics & operations to schedule planned maintenance activities
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of preventive maintenance tasks & frequencies
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance tactics & strategies
  • Participate in work order reviews to identify recurring failures
  • Document review to include Non-Conformity (NC) support, Change Request (CR) support & SOP review
  • Support reliability team response activities for assigned process(es), to include documenting identified problems & working to provide quick resolution
  • Participate in plant Closedown Team planning & execution
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned
Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear gloves. Occasionally performs critical job functions in extremely cold work environments. Occasionally positions oneself within confined spaces for inspection, repair & maintenance of equipment. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Able to pass a driving exam for powered industrial trucks. Does not require a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • May consider an Associate’s degree from an accredited university with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in maintenance/engineering field or equivalent military/industrial training required
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in maintenance/engineering field or equivalent military/industrial training required, preferably in a pharmaceutical environment
  • Knowledgeable in at least one of the following systems/utilities required: HVAC, aseptic processes, automated assembly, automated packaging, compressed air, steam, chilled water, pharmaceutical utilities, fermentation, sterilization, water purification preferred
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and/or control systems preferred
  • Excellent maintenance craft skills preferred
  • Knowledgeable in fundamentals of cLEAN and/or reliability excellence preferred
  • Computer Literacy: Excellent computer skills to include SAP & Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required
  • Ability to demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving & troubleshooting preferred
  • Attention to detail, ability to think critically & sequentially with proven time management skills preferred
  • Demonstrable experience with the planning of maintenance activities preferred
  • Excellent communication skills preferred
