Maintenance Planner - Food Manufacturing - 1st Shift

Full time maintenance position in Boardman, Ohio. The Maintenance Planner reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure production equipment availability and performance.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Planner will maintain production equipment availability through planning, scheduling, coordinating and reporting repair activities. The role requires extensive knowledge of CMMS systems (Manager’s Plus), labor and material planning, communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with continuous improvement focus.

Primary Responsibilities

• Plan work schedules to complete preventive maintenance (PMs), corrective and emergency work orders.
• Manage backlog to keep backlogged work orders to less than 14 days.
• Maintain a list of temporary repairs in Manager’s Plus and ensure permanent repairs are performed on the following maintenance day.
• Audit repairs and PMs to ensure quality work.
• Compile and send weekly reports to supervisors on the performance of the maintenance team.
• Maintain all plant equipment records in Manager’s Plus.
• Communicate parts requirements and inventory levels needed for scheduled PM and corrective work orders.
• Kit parts for all work orders.
• Schedule and coordinate vendors for inspections, calibrations and preventive maintenance.
• Plan activities for planned production line downtimes and plant outages under the direction of Maintenance Supervisors.
• Prepare and maintain a weekly operator PM schedule and communicate to Operations.
• Ensure safe work and quality practices are implemented and report issues.
• Schedule and coordinate contractor installation support and service operations.
• Maintain equipment manuals, complete work order completion reports, and document work hours and administrative tasks in CMMS.
• Accountable for food safety, food quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Notify management of actual or potential food safety issues.
• Adopt and maintain all SQF requirements.
• Resolve food safety and food quality issues within scope of work.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Education and Experience

Minimum Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented, able to multi‑task and manage projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the food/beverage industry.
• 2 years of CMMS experience.
• 5 years of maintenance experience.
• Experience in manufacturing or production environment.
• Ability to direct, coach, and train others.
• Project management with contractors and critical thinking skills.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This position requires physical ability to work in a maintenance setting, including the ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend, crouch, push/pull, lift up to 50 lbs and use hands and tools. Exposure to wet/humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, dust, toxic chemicals, and noise levels from machinery.
