Job summary

New-Indy Containerboard in Oxnard, CA is seeking an Experienced Maintenance Planner to organize safe, efficient maintenance work across the Oxnard facility. You will plan tasks, coordinate craft crews, and ensure Ready-to-Work packages before scheduling.

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent maintenance planning experience and at least four years in heavy industrial maintenance, with strong Maximo CMMS and Microsoft Office skills.

  • Minimum 4 years in heavy industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Embed safety into every job plan and document safety requirements.
  • Review work orders for completeness and maintain backlog.
  • Perform field walk-downs to define scope, labor, materials, tools, access and constraints.
  • Develop detailed job plans with scope, steps, labor estimates, crafts, parts and drawings.
  • Prepare complete job packages and ensure Ready-to-Work status before scheduling.
  • Provide labor estimates and craft requirements to support scheduling.
  • Identify stock and non-stock material requirements and improve BOMs.
  • Maintain 2–3 week planning horizon and lead planning meetings.
  • Collect execution feedback to improve plans and BOMs and reduce rework.
  • Support reliability initiatives, RCAs, and shutdown planning.
  • Maintain high-quality Maximo data and update work orders.

Essential Functions of the Job
  • Embed safety into every job plan, identifying hazards and required permits (LOTO, confined space, hot work) and documenting safety requirements.
  • Review approved work orders for completeness, return incomplete requests, and maintain a clean prioritized planning backlog.
  • Perform field walk-downs to define scope, labor, materials, tools, access requirements, and operational constraints.
  • Develop detailed job plans including scope, job steps, labor estimates, crafts, parts, tools, support equipment, drawings, manuals, and photos.
  • Prepare complete job packages and ensure all work reaches Ready-to-Work status before scheduling.
  • Provide labor estimates and craft requirements to support realistic scheduling.
  • Identify stock and non-stock material requirements, create purchase requisitions, improve Bills of Material (BOMs), and partner with the storeroom to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Maitain a 2–3 week planning horizon, lead weekly planning meetings, and participate in scheduling meetings.
  • Collect execution feedback and continuously improve job plans, PMs, estimates, and BOMs to reduce rework and increase wrench time.
  • Support reliability initiatives, RCAs, engineering documentation, vendors/OEMs, shutdown planning, and critical maintenance events.
  • Maintain high-quality CMMS (Maximo) data and ensure work orders are properly updated and closed.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This job is not a supervisory position.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial technology or related field, or equivalent maintenance planning experience.
  • Minimum 4 years in heavy industrial maintenance.
Other skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite with strong aptitude for Projects
  • Strong understanding of computerized maintenance management systems such as Maximo.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

The noise level within the office is usually quiet and the temperature is regulated to be comfortable.

Occasionally the employee is exposed to the Mill work environment which can be hot, and the noise level is loud.
