Qualifications

  • 3+ years in industrial/manufacturing environment, preferably in hydro or gas turbine operations.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements and ability to read P&IDs.

Job description

About the role:

The individual assigned to this position is responsible for managing and supporting capital/expense projects, and maintenance/operational issues as required. The Maintenance Planner will be responsible for work assigned at all sites located in the Southern NY Region.

The Maintenance Planner is expected to demonstrate the ability to comply with all reasonable industry-related standards and programs. Some specific responsibilities may include (although not limited to) the following:

What you’ll do:
  1. Oversight of assigned projects:
    1. Overall project safety
    2. Manage the day-to-day maintenance activities for all of the Southern NY assets.
    3. Managing contractors
    4. Manage the CMMS System for the SNY region
  2. Support and manage maintenance and operations personnel including:
    1. Managing electrical contractors for construction or maintenance activities
    2. Manage and track employee time in the CMMS System
    3. Managing maintenance and critical equipment issues, as required
    4. Provide support to the overall Mid-Atlantic Team as needed
  3. Support the Technical Manager, Regional Managers, and other ECRE personnel on assigned compliance and regulatory projects related to sites, including (but not limited to):
    1. Dam safety inspections and maintenance
    2. Wildlife management
    3. Water Quality certifications
    4. SPCC compliance
  4. Administrative Duties:
    1. Create or assist in the development and implementation of operational and/or maintenance procedures
    2. Assist in the preparation and management of operational and project budgets
    3. Assist in obtaining and enforcing all local, state and federal environmental permits and regulatory requirements related to projects.
    4. Comply with company standards, practices and policies
    5. Provide accurate records as required
    6. Must be proficient in the use of personal computers, specifically in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, data collection and database software
    7. Work with the Engineering, Dam Safety, Regulatory and other departments to implement project requirements and assist with design decisions.
    8. Work with the Regional Managers to develop outage schedules and outage planning.
    9. Perform Pre-Job safety briefings with contractor and site personnel.
    10. Assist the Regional Managers during emergency situations.
    11. Work with the Division Manager to develop project costing and yearly budget information.
    12. Develop Punch-List items for major projects and work with contractors or site personnel to resolve these items in a timely manner.
    13. Other tasks as assigned by the Regional Manager.
What you’ll need:
  • A minimum of an associate degree in a technical or engineering discipline, or equivalent job experience
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, experience in hydro, steam and/or gas turbine power plant operations is preferred
  • Experienced in the use of personal computers
  • Be familiar with OSHA requirements and have completed OSHA 10-hour course (or will be completed upon successful employment)
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand P&IDs
  • Ability to understand complex issues as they relate to plant operations
  • Ability to work extended hours, if required
  • The ability to work well with others in a fast paced, challenging environment
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform manual tasks including but not limited to:
    1. The operation of hand and power tools and the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
    2. Being able to bend and maneuver in tight, cramped quarters.
    3. Ability to work in hot, noisy, and dark environments, often alone and isolated.
    4. Comfortability working at heights and around water.
    5. Ability to work with and wear respiratory protection.
    6. Reach with hands and arms above shoulder level and at shoulder level.
    7. Walk, stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time.
    8. Grip and manually manipulate, often in repetitive motion, items such as but not limited to hand tools and machine parts.
    9. Read and identify labels, gauges, dials, and indicators typically encountered in performing job duties.
  • Possess clear and effective verbal communication in all circumstances, including emergency situations and giving/receiving instructions over a radio.
