Job summary

Ash Grove Cement, a CRH Company, is seeking a Maintenance Planner to coordinate maintenance activities across our cement plant. The role focuses on planning jobs to maximize equipment efficiency, minimize downtime, and ensure safety and compliance.

The position involves indirect supervision of maintenance crews and direct supervision of contractors, with occasional evening and weekend work. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth across North America.

Qualifications

• Minimum technical degree in related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar maintenance role in cement or industrial plants preferred.
• Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
• Knowledge of maintenance requirements for plant equipment and structures.
• Familiarity with EPA/MSHA regulations related to maintenance work.

Responsibilities

• Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate preventive maintenance, maintenance projects, and mechanical repair activities; provide technical assistance to the maintenance crew.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Attend department and plant safety meetings as needed.
• Plan modifications and improvements to plant equipment and structures to improve efficiency.
• Maintain resource library, equipment manuals, drawings, and blueprints.
• Support and comply with plant MEP guidelines and participate in MEP teams.
• Ensure adequate repair parts levels maintained by storeroom personnel.
• Assist in preparing budgets for capital expenditures for maintenance projects.
• Determine labor requirements for specific jobs and job planning.
• Develop and maintain Standard Job Plans; keep work history of plant equipment.

Summary

The Maintenance Planner plans and coordinates maintenance activities conducted at the plant. Maintains plant assets in accordance with a proactive maintenance philosophy to achieve plant production, cost, quality, safety and environmental goals. The position schedules maintenance jobs so as to maximize plant and or equipment efficiency and minimize downtime. The Maintenance Planner provides indirect supervision over maintenance crew members and direct supervision over specific contractors. This position must be available for infrequent evening and weekend work.

What you'll be contributing

• Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
• Plans, schedules, coordinates preventive maintenance, maintenance projects, and mechanical repair activities and provides technical assistance to maintenance crew.
• Ensures compliance to all safety standards and regulations.
• Conducts and/or attends department and plant safety meetings.
• Plans modifications and improvements of plant equipment and structures to improve efficiency.
• Maintains resource library, provides equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, online information, and blueprints.
• Supports and complies with the plant MEP guidelines.
• Facilitates MEP process as requested by management.
• Ensures appropriate levels of repair parts are maintained by storeroom personnel.
• Assists in preparing budget for capital expenditures planned for maintenance projects and repairs.
• Determines labor requirements for specific jobs and job planning.
• Develop and maintans Standard Job Plans.
• Maintains work history of all plant equipment and keeps complete and updated list of plant equipment
• Coordinates, writes, and reviews regulary SOPs and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) related to the department monthly.
• Conducts, reviews and reports SAFE observations and area inspections.
• Participates in and leads morning and afternoon scheduling meetings.
• Works with mechanical supervisors and assists with daily scheduling.
• Establishes position as a positive role model for plant safety, health and environmental issues and asserts "safety and environmental leadership" in all aspects of each daily routine.
• Participates in the plant Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP) team.

To succeed in this position, you will need

• Minimum technical degree in related area. In lieu of degree/diploma equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in similar maintenance role in cement or industrial plant preferred.
• Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to make decisions and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at a conclusion
• Ability to peform, organize, and prioritize work independently
• Ability to effectively handle multiple projects
• Ability to acquire knowledge in the area of speciality
• Knowledge of maintenance and repair required by plant equipment structures
• Knowledge of government regulations such as EPA and MSHA as they relate to maintenance and repair projects.
• Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and blueprints
