Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking a Pipefitter for a maintenance position in Axis, AL. The role lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating and other industrial processes.

As a non-exempt position, it reports to the Foreman and follows site procedures and safety rules. Candidates should have 1–4 years of pipefitting experience, basic reading of drawings, ability to read a tape measure, and skilled use of power

Qualifications

• 1–4 years of pipefitting experience
• A-class Pipefitter reads field drawings and engineering drawings
• Know how to connect flanged pipe connections using cross pattern bolting
• Able to read and utilize a tape measure
• Familiarity with framing square in pipefitting tasks
• Know how to use power tools to prepare pipe for cutting/welding/bolting
• A-class pipefitters must make accurate weld connections

Responsibilities

• Select pipe size/type per job specs
• Inspect work sites for obstructions and ensure structural integrity
• Plan installation sequence to avoid obstructions
• Cut, thread and bend pipe
• Assemble and install metal/nonmetal pipe fittings
• Join pipe by threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused or cemented joints
• Secure pipe to structure with clamps and hangers
• Install/maintain refrigeration and air-conditioning systems
• Test piping system for leaks
