Job summary

Textron Aviation's Maintenance Pipefitter A on third shift is responsible for laying out, installing, repairing, and maintaining plant piping systems including compressed air, water, steam, natural gas, and special chemicals.

You will read drawings and plans, install piping in configurations with limited operation methods, and repair components such as pumps, valves, and RO equipment, while ensuring quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent plus 1-2 years of trades school training including Plumbing Code courses.
• Must obtain and maintain Forklift Operation Certificate and Aircraft Operating Area License.
• 3-5 years of industrial pipefitting and plumbing experience.
• Working conditions: dirt, noise, weather; occasional hazards.

Responsibilities

• Layout, install, repair, and maintain plant piping (air, water, steam, natural gas) per plans.
• Maintain and repair piping, pumps, pressure control devices, and related equipment.
• Safely repair failed piping systems and equipment.
• Use lift equipment or ladders to access overhead equipment.
• May use cutting torch and sweat solder in job duties.
• Guide and instruct one or two junior employees.
• Ensure quality of own work.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Summary:

To layout, install, repair, and maintain plant piping systems.

Job Responsibilities

• Working with drawings, plans and installs plant compressed air, water, steam, natural gas piping as well as piping for less common chemicals and gases in accordance with the Uniform Plumbing Code. Requires the ability to plan and install piping in configurations where only general operation methods are available.

• Maintains and repairs piping, pumps, pressure control devices, fuel service area equipment, chemical filtration, back flow prevention and reverse osmosis equipment.

Safely makes repairs to failed piping systems and equipment.

• Uses lift equipment or ladders to access overhead equipment.

• May be required to use cutting torch and to sweat solder in performance of job duties.

• Guides and instructs one or two equal or lower grade employees.

• Responsible for quality of own work.

• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education:

Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification plus one to two years of trades school training including Plumbing Code courses. Must obtain and maintain any necessary training and licensing, including but not limited to, Forklift Operation Certificate, and Aircraft Operating Area License.

Experience:

Requires 3-5 years of industrial pipefitting and plumbing.

Working Conditions:

Somewhat disagreeable working conditions due to exposure to dirt, noise and weather conditions. Occasional hazardous conditions caused by hazardous materials and processes.
