Job summary

Textron Aviation is seeking an experienced pipefitter to layout, install, repair, and maintain plant piping systems on the Wichita, Kansas site. You will work from drawings/plans to install piping for compressed air, water, steam, natural gas, and various chemicals.

The role requires 3–5 years of industrial pipefitting and plumbing, with training/licensing including forklift operation and aircraft operating area licenses. A bronze WorkKeys certificate plus trades school training is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires 3-5 years of industrial pipefitting and plumbing.
• Must obtain and maintain any necessary training and licensing, including Forklift Operation Certificate and Aircraft Operating Area License.
• bronze level WorkKeys certification plus one to two years of trades school training including Plumbing Code courses.

Responsibilities

• Layout, install, and maintain plant piping systems.
• Work with drawings and plans to install piping for compressed air, water, steam, natural gas, and chemicals.
• Maintain and repair piping, pumps, pressure control devices, and related equipment.
• Safely repair failed piping systems and equipment.
• Use lift equipment or ladders to access overhead equipment.
• Potentially sweat solder and use cutting torch as part of duties.
• Instruct and guide one or two equal or lower grade employees.
• Ensure quality of own work.

Job description

Job Summary:

To layout, install, repair, and maintain plant piping systems.

Job Responsibilities:

Working with drawings, plans and installs plant compressed air, water, steam, natural gas piping as well as piping for less common chemicals and gases in accordance with the Uniform Plumbing Code. Requires the ability to plan and install piping in configurations where only general operation methods are available.

Maintains and repairs piping, pumps, pressure control devices, fuel service area equipment, chemical filtration, back flow prevention and reverse osmosis equipment.

Safely makes repairs to failed piping systems and equipment.

Uses lift equipment or ladders to access overhead equipment.

May be required to use cutting torch and to sweat solder in performance of job duties.

Guides and instructs one or two equal or lower grade employees.

Responsible for quality of own work.

Performs Other Duties As Required.

Education:

Requires a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification plus one to two years of trades school training including Plumbing Code courses. Must obtain and maintain any necessary training and licensing, including but not limited to, Forklift Operation Certificate, and Aircraft Operating Area License.

Experience:

Requires 3-5 years of industrial pipefitting and plumbing.

Working Conditions:

Somewhat disagreeable working conditions due to exposure to dirt, noise and weather conditions. Occasional hazardous conditions caused by hazardous materials and processes.
