Job summary

Georgia-Pacific Palatka Mill in Florida is seeking a Maintenance Performance Leader to guide the Mechanical Maintenance Team, partnering with maintenance, operations and engineering to shape short- and long-term strategies focused on safety, reliability and equipment performance.

You will lead, coach and direct technicians, manage weekly schedules, prioritize safety and PM work orders, investigate incidents with RCA, and drive continuous improvement of maintenance practices across the mill.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or higher.
• Three (3) or more years of mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing, industrial or military environment.
• Leadership experience with responsibility for direct reports within a manufacturing or military environment.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with reliability concepts and implementing precision maintenance techniques to improve equipment reliability.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong leadership to develop a high-performing mechanical maintenance team.
• Plan and manage weekly schedules for mechanical maintenance trades from planned work.
• Prioritize safety work orders and PMs in resource planning and execution.
• Investigate injuries and ensure incident reports and RCA’s are completed with follow-through.
• Use economic thinking to fill resource gaps and optimize maintenance spend.
• Motivate and develop hourly employees to continually improve performance.
• Collaborate with other MPLs to share resources across the mill for critical work.
• Foster PBM® culture and drive Continuous Improvement in maintenance practices.

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Maintenance Performance Leader to support our Mechanical Maintenance Team at our Pulp & Paper Operations facility in Palatka, Florida.
This position reports directly to the Maintenance Leader. The Maintenance Performance Leader will work with leaders from maintenance, operations, and engineering to develop both short-term and long-term maintenance strategies to ensure the safety, reliability and performance of maintenance area equipment while providing leadership, coaching and direction for Mechanical Maintenance Technicians.

Our Team

Georgia Pacific's Palatka Mill is located just south of Jacksonville and west of St. Augustine, FL, the Palatka mill employs about 950 people has six paper machines as well as several converting lines and produces consumer tissue products such as bath tissue and paper towels sold under the Georgia-Pacific brand names of Angel Soft®, Quilted Northern®, Brawny®, and Sparkle®.

What You Will Do

• Responsible for the performance and development of mechanical maintenance team by Demonstrating strong leadership skills and habits of "best practice".
• Managing and development of weekly schedules for mechanical maintenance crafts from planned work provided.
• Managing mechanical maintenance resources and work orders, giving priorities to Safety Work Orders and PM’s.
• Investigating injuries and ensure incident reports and RCA’s are completed with follow through
• Using economic thinking to fill necessary resource gaps.
• Exhibiting strong leadership skills to motivate and develop a team of hourly employees to continuously improve performance of the individual employees and overall business.
• Work other MPL’s to share resources across the mill to support critical work.
• Fostering and developing culture based on our Principle Based Management (PBM®) Philosophy.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• High School Diploma/GED or higher
• Three (3) or more years of mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing, industrial or military environment
• Leadership experience with responsibility for direct reports within a manufacturing or military environment
• Experience using Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Experience with reliability concepts and implementing precision maintenance techniques to improve equipment reliability

What Will Put You Ahead

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering
• Experience with systems such as SAP or other CMMS's
• Experience with maintenance workflow systems
• Experience using preventive and predictive maintenance programs
• Experience in Capital Budgeting; capital project management; as well as the experience with budgeting for the maintenance department
• Experience as a leader of maintenance or process engineering
