American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking skilled Maintenance/Operations/Railcar Mechanics to perform coal transloading, railcar maintenance, and related equipment operations. This role includes tasks with dozers, forklifts, and testing gear in a safety-focused environment.
The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of welding and cutting experience, and knowledge of rail car maintenance rules and safety practices. A valid driver’s license is also required.
The Maintenance/Operations/Railcar Mechanics conduct job tasks in a safe, compliant manner. They perform essential duties associated with coal transloading, facility and railcar maintenance. This also includes operation of associated equipment: dozers, forklifts, mobile equipment, and testing equipment for railcar inspection.

Compensation Grade: U046-651
Compensation Range: $39.96 - $39.96
The Physical Demand Level for this job is: M – Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
