Job summary

freshexpress is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Technician to safely maintain, repair, replace and modify processing, packaging and facility equipment with high quality and efficiency. The role includes shift from 3:00 pm to 1:00 am and requires strong troubleshooting skills.

You will operate CMMS, read schematics, support safety teams, and collaborate with production staff to uphold food safety and productivity goals. A HS diploma and technical training or equivalent experience are preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate CMMS system and complete work orders and log corrective maintenance issues.
• Communicate with production personnel and other mechanics to identify problematic areas and analyze information.
• Perform electrical repairs and troubleshoot PLC, AC & DC motor controls, solid state motor controls, and related circuits.
• Read schematics, drawings, and manuals to establish facts.
• Support facility maintenance equipment including wastewater, compressed air, refrigeration and safety systems.
• Align daily activities with company objectives on productivity, yields, food safety, quality and cost goals.
• Perform daily inspections, emergency repairs, and routine adjustments; follow preventive maintenance schedules.
• Maintain organized documentation and inspection records.
• Serve as a resource to other departments to resolve mechanical issues and maintain production efficiencies.
• Provide support to Process Improvement projects and participate on safety teams.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job description

Maintenance Mechanic Technician is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, replacing and modifying all processing, packaging and facility equipment with optimal quality and efficiency.

Shift hours: 3:00 pm to 1:00 am

Day to day Responsibilities:

• Operate CMMS system and demonstrate 100% functionality in order to complete work orders as well as log corrective maintenance issues in the system
• Effectively communicate with production personnel and other mechanics to identify problematic areas of concern; provide and receive feedback and/or support through collection and analysis of information
• Perform electrical repairs and troubleshoot for the following: PLC Controls, AC & DC motor controls, solid state motor controls, advance circuits and grounding, interpret diagrams and test equipment
• Read schematics, drawings, and manuals to establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Support facility maintenance equipment, which includes the following: waste water equipment, compressed air, refrigeration and building safety equipment
• Must demonstrate an understanding of the company's objectives including productivity, yields, food safety, quality, customer service and cost goals; daily work activities should support achieving those goals
• Perform daily inspections, emergency repairs, and routine adjustments; follow periodic preventive maintenance schedule
• Maintain organized documentation, inspection records, etc
• Serve as a resource to other departments in order to resolve mechanical issues and maintain production efficiencies
• Provide support to Process Improvement (PI) projects and participate on safety teams
• Perform other duties as required or assigned

Position Skills & Qualifications Desired

Physical Requirements: The employee is required to stand for extended periods of time (duration of the shift, 8 hours or more); walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; bend continuously; or crawl. The incumbent must be able to climb stairs and ladders or step up onto a platform several times throughout the shift; and is occasionally required to sit. The employee must be able to push/pull/lift and/or move 50 pounds. The incumbent must operate light motorized equipment, hand and power tools skillfully and safely.

Work Environment

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet/cold conditions of 34 - 36 degrees and also at times hot conditions; high, precarious places (ex: 25 feet above ground level for extended hours); and outside weather conditions (rooftop). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud, which may require hearing protection.

• Must possess proficient mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills (logic and control circuits) and emergency repair skills; ability to identify and repair problematic issues concerning all equipment and machinery, including finding innovative solutions to recurrent problems
• Ability to use multi-meter and other measurement instruments
• Ability to read, write and speak English
• Must work effectively in a team setting
• Must demonstrate a basic ability to cross-train other mechanics as well as production personnel
• Proficiency with Microsoft computer programs: Outlook, Word and Excel (ability to enter data into the system)
• Ability to use Computerized Maintenance Management System to track work orders, PM's, and inventory
• Ability to demonstrate math skills as part of the daily activities such as fractions, decimals, percentages and the metric system; efficient with ratios, metric system, and formulas
• Ability to understand schematics, drawings, and manuals to establish facts and draw conclusions
• Familiarity with preventive and reliability-based maintenance
• Strong organizational skills

Position Experience Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years experience with industrial, high speed processing, packaging, weighing, filling and inspection equipment OR minimum two years of technical training

Position Education & Training Preferred

• Minimum of a High School diploma/GED, some Technical School coursework, or Mechanical Certification (must have at least one of these three items to be considered)
