Job summary

The Department of the Air Force at Francis E. Warren AFB seeks a skilled supervisor in general maintenance and operations.

You will plan, direct, and coordinate work across multiple teams to meet mission requirements, assign tasks, set deadlines, and ensure safety and security compliance on site. Candidates should have strong leadership, ability to interpret blueprints, and the capacity to manage resources effectively.

Job description

Major Duties
  • Performs work planning responsibilities. Plans on a quarterly or longer basis the overall use of personnel and other resources in two or more separate organizational segments or groups controlled through one or more levels of supervision.
  • Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns and explains work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed.
  • Performs administration responsibilities. Participates with subordinate supervisors/employees in the development of performance plans.
  • Provides a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
  • Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas.

  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • The duties of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or
  • office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7 “Screening the Ready Reserve”)
  • Leave accrual may be authorized upon request
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the xperience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700 General Maintenance and Operations Work Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.
  2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
  3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
  4. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
  5. Ability to manage overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions and implement sound personnel policies, practices, and procedures through one or more levels of subordinate supervisors.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
